Plates!

Everyone has this one Material that wont drop.
I am on my third day farming Anjanath for a Plate.
On every other 5*+ Monster I got the Plate on my first or second hunt, but Anjie seems to not wanna drop it.

Is it better to for Expeditions and wait for multiple spawns or just do the Key Quest over and over, because Target Rewards have a 2% chance for a plate?

I would argue it's never better to do expeditions, unless you just want the most common drops and don't care which. When it comes to farming rare drops its all about maximising your chances. Which parts should be broken/severed and carved, capture vs kill, and quick and efficient quest choice. In your case off the top of my head the best chances are given from tail cuts and carves plus capturing the monster. And if you can get a quest with said monster in a arena or small local then all the better.

Target hunt the monster through quests and bring two lv 20+ gathering palicos.

I had a hunt where I carved a plate, had a plate drop, and each palico plundered a plate. Sadly, I didn't NEED these plates, but Desire Sensor works in mysterious ways.

Literally the first hunt today I got a Plate as Dropped Material.

Still weird that almost every other Large Monster got me one or two plates first try,

i have been farming primodial for 3 days... still zero bloodstone so i can't forge the weapon

RNG can be a fickle mistress. In my first 3 Chaotic Gore hunts, I got FIVE total Contrary Scales

oh yes, i had so much trouble trying to get a contrary plate from chaotic gore magdela that i finally just used all my anomaly points i saved up for it
