I partially solved this using a mod which overrides region lock, so when you try to join random quests, the search pool is wider. That way now, every time i try to join random quests, HR or MR, it works. Sometimes theres a little lag.
I did that cause nobody joined my lobby or my quests.
The World SOS system is no more, unfortunately, dont know why, it was way better than this system.
In my opinion, the MP joining method in this game is atrocious....
Yes it sucks. This will probably always be a problem. Worlds SoS system also wasn't perfect. I remember the " can't join, is full" message or people only spamming tempered ED's.
I am confused though. If there is a mod which removes the region lock, it should be also possible to design something like that via REFramework, considering all the mods I have seen so far.
It's this. The playerbase is extremely fragmented, and new/ish players won't have access to current content and won't be able to contribute to it even if they can join a quest.
I don't like discord, but you can find some communities there to create multiplayer rooms for your hunts.
Some back story, base monster hunter rise has a game mode called rampage. It is a simple mode and for its brief part in the game series some will tell you it either sucked, was alright, or was good. There is one nice thing rampage did in my opinion, and that was just a place you could almost always join to do a multiplayer hunt that wasn't that quite serious.
Now we have affliction quests that have an explosion of tiers that frankly fractured the player base. Each monster has a special afflicted part is drops, some monsters drop the same drop so you can have some choice if what to farm for said drop your looking for. As the afflicted quests level up higher and higher, they drop different parts. Now this sounds fine but you have a limit to what you can join and if no one is doing your low level affliction quest your looking for, you will almost never find another party to join.
The game uses steam regions to make sure you don't try to join games across the world and have the world ping, this is a good thing. If your lagging in a hunt you will get hit even when the monster isn't near you due to the lag. There is a mod that makes matchmaking better that removes the steam region setting, but there's a problem with it. People may not even be doing those low level affliction hunts. I grinded up to affliction 120 quests and I never was able to join another person.
My save on the Switch got multiplayer matches all the time, it's just a different environment/group of people. PC players are more "I can be a speed runner too and solo everything" / keep to themselves, etc. granted on the Switch 90% of the people I played with were JP but they were friendly enough that we could communicate with stickers and such.
I think this is more like steam problem which was also the case with MHW/IB. The game will also come out on xbox and PC gamepass + crossplay between xbox and PC gamepass (doesn't include steam playerbase). i don't think xbox will have problem with region lock, it's more like steam stupid limitation.
It's way more likely you'll join a random game with extreme lag if you can join into a game literally on the other side of the world. If by chance that's where all your games end up for whatever reason. For most this is an extremely negative experience and would request a refund or leave a negative review.
The biggest problem with Rise/Sunbreak is there is absolutely no incentive for higher level players to play at lower levels. Even if we need lower level anomaly parts they can occasionally be obtained by hunting higher ranked ones or just bought from the vendor since higher level quests will give more of the shop currency.
If I were able to get level appropriate rewards while joining random quests with any level selected that would "fix" the issue of the "drought" of matchmaking, but also create a new one where you can get high level mats by absolutely destroying lower level monsters.
That is one way to see it. MH:W had such incentive.
The real issue about such system is: there is no downscaling of your gear. So putting aside the lack of interest for low level materials which you get easily via buddies e.g. it is easy to see the fun of low level players ruined when you invite an expert hunter randomly into your hunt.
That discourages new player to learn more about the game, especially when they see no reason to due to the illussion the game is too easy when someone help them.
- too many matchmaking pools
- region lock; crapcom being lazy here because its a toggle option on steam servers
- no active quest browser
- lack of incentive for players with higher progression to help newer players; there is also no automated gear clamping so lower level monster fights are less interesting. You can three-shot LR monsters with sacred sheath combo with LS as an example.
- end-game players are massively separated from main story players through the anomaly investigation as there is a time sink to grind.
- I've seen some renegade behaviour from some newer players trying to rush to end game which causes a malicious cycle for lobby hoping and trying to take over the lobbies that are focusing on other quests. Vicious cycle of players not using the SOS because it takes too long and people pleading for carries in lobbies and then thus not using the SOS.
- small lobby sizes which means any person not participating in the quest that posters put up are dead weight
-worthless hunter connect system that only exists for people that want to build clans, but is some alien tech that no one understands and no one should understand this shenanigans because it shows how badly implemented the multiplayer is set up in this game.
- a worthless social credit score system that largely has no meaning to it if the social agenda here is to just like everyone you encounter in your hunt as it is a detriment to hunter cards. Further obfuscating the feauture that lets you find active lobbies of people you liked previously, but the menu option is almost hidden. Where is my dislike button so i can actively avoid certain bad behaviour players.
Crapcom marketing the game as a multiplayer experience, but actively makes it harder to play in multiplayer. The only time where you probably won't have problems is when you reach peak end game and all you are doing is helping other people get there by lobby hopping or joining random quests.
