This has been a known issue since shortly after the pc launch along with player attack timing changing based on framerate.
It is incredibly frustrating and breaks already pretty bad game even more.
Evade Extender 2 my dude. It'll save your life. Honestly its basically mandatory lol
A lot of gunners do like evade extender, however, it's possible to avoid those attacks without it, you just gotta adjust your positioning to the monster. LBG also gets a counter move in MR which is pretty good. HBG's counters also work for a lot of those attacks, like Rajang's beam attack for example. MR mango does 2 tail stabs now, so a counter is probably a bad idea on that, but you don't want to give mango that kinda range to begin with, even on a gunner. Don't be in the range where those attacks are the most lethal.
Traditionally, most of a monster's worst attacks were in melee range, in this game that's not always the case, and a lot of monsters are now easier to deal with in close range vs long for reasons that have been stated. Just adjust your positioning to the fight.
I mean, the game is pretty easy already and you only have two ways of increasing the difficulty: the bad way (HP sponges) and the good way (mechanic rework). This "bug" somehow achieves the latter unintendedly, bravo.
Yeah, why the hell would a Narga whiff the tail attack so spectularly on a hunter that's just running sideways? I would expect to have to roll that...Same goes for Rajang's laser and Magna's tail jab. Being able to casually charge a hammer while holding left stick sideways and dodge them just seems a bit lame.
The video also doesn't even showcase how little of an effect these changes actually have on gameplay, since nobody charging a hammer is going to be running wide circles around a monster. They'd close in for attacking immediately, which would make it far easier to position to the sides of all these monsters, preventing these attacks from landing or even coming out. I feel like if you put yourself at the perfect range for attacks like these (like in the video), you should be forced to roll or run away because it's just a bad move on the hunter's part.
It's not supposed to be this way, there are very few attacks in the whole franchise that can't be simply walked from.
Yes, older games have better tracking but tracking in Rise is beyond ridiculous BECAUSE devs ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and never fixed the issue.
