Yeah saying Rise is oldschool is a bit... farfetched. But after Wilds even Rise feels more slow and sluggish, since combat in Wilds is super fluid. So fluid that maybe it takes something away from the so-called original Monster Hunter Experience.

I'm enjoying Rise better after Wilds so far. The combat is harder and feels much more rewarding. I think wilds forgives sloppines all too well and Seikret is super fast savior that can be called weapon drawn. Also Rise is complete game at this point with full blown DLC and biggest roster since Ultimate.

wilds is too easy but very nice to explore
rise is very fun gameplay and more emotionnal
world is the best overall

I still prefer rise over wilds but thats mainly because of wire fall, rise is full of combat even after being knocked down by a monster you can wire fall to immediately get back to combat.
World is so bad in this case compare to wilds,
in world not only it takes longer time to get up after being knocked down, there are some monsters attack that knocks you down and then they will follow it with a very slow but high damage attack these monsters attack will knock you down even longer (your hunter will be on the floor scared and moving backward).
Wilds has no wire fall but its faster to get up from being knocked down compare to world.

Wilds doesn't have the expansion so it's not really comparable in its current state. So right now i'd say Rise is the best of the 3. But if you like hunting old school this is the PSP MH team. Although it has incorporated a ton of QoL. The only issue I have is I still prefer its older counterparts over Rise. But that's just personal preference, I don't really care for the Palamule and Wirebugs. In World & Wilds it's like playing a new flavor of Monster Hunter. But takes a few steps back in what makes Monster Hunter well, Monster Hunter. Like who on earth thought on rails walk & talks with a low rank singleplayer focus should be in an instant action co-op oriented franchise.

I love both, I like all of the monster hunter games, been playing since MH1, and still frequently play them all except Monster Hunter Online, the 3ds, wii u, and the phone ones and they all scratch different itches while still all feeling like monster hunter

You mean of the three monster hunters you played?

Well this is not old school, if you are looking for that. This is like MHGU dial up by 10 or more like World 1.5 with the evolution of the Weapon arts system from Gen.

Rise >>> World > Wilds
Love me portable team, simple as.
Rise leans more into the Japanese mythical and cultural side, which is the main thing that sets it apart from other titles for me. If you want to enjoy old school MH, your best bet would be MHGU, and the roster is also insane.

Having started a new playthrough of Rise after finishing Wilds I think my favorite thing about Rise is the style of it all. All of the NPCs and maps just have so much character to them. Everything is so stylized and I wish that was the direction MH was going. Wilds just looks bland in every aspect by comparison.

Best team.
You mean "Which one who utilize RE Engine properly"? Yeah Rise would be it.

It's almost like world has stakes and rise doesn't

To my understanding monster hunter is developed by two teams, the core team and the side team. World and wilds were done by the core team, rise by the side team. Side team also did generations ultimate. Side team isn't afraid to put cool stuff into the game like GU's charge blade having that crazy laser slash for example, and rise being able to change up the combos with switch skills. Greatsword's surge slash is crazy fun and much more interesting than just a bunch of charge attacks. Biggest reason i won't be getting wilds is they didn't carry over switch skills. I appreciate being able to customize my stuff. After playing with surge slash, just charge attacks on the greatsword is boring as hell.
