Capcom should add an option to turn off the dive evade.
Even if a monster isnt fighting you it can be triggered aslong as you run away from it. They gave us QoL settings for wall running, they should add this aswell.

Unless you're talking about the actual Leap of Faith skill that makes you superman dive from any angle, the way you don't dive is don't activate sprint. You can ONLY superman dive while running, as long as you're just walking you won't dive.

Also in close to 800 hours Ive never once been punished for superman diving by accident, so you really don't have to worry.
indeed they should, but also, imagine forgetting to turn it back on. i already have enough moments i tried to dive and failed i don't need to add more to that list

You literally just need to let go of sprint before rolling. It’s an L2P issue.

In the skill description they call it "emergency evade". Im not sure if they decided to change the name but on the wiki the skill description(Im assuming it wasnt updated?) says "dive-evade", so I figured Id say leap of faith but I guess I should have just said dive...

Anyway to me its always been annoying since I use dodge(with max extender) to move fast since World as a LBG user. Sure in Rise we have lightbugs but while they recharge I always use dodging to move instead of sprinting. All that to say, since Im mixing both to move as fast as possible sometimes I just dont let go of sprint for a split second before dodging and ends up doing the dive. I mix sprint with lightbug to get a little edge of speed.

As for the dive being punishing, it can be for gunners when a monster starts spamming attacks at you and you try to evade everything. In World it was worst since we didnt have lightbugs and the slow movement made every move count towards surviving attacks, Iv died multiple times because of that dive before I knew how to not use it. In Rise its not as bad but it can still be lethal.

I just think it would be great to have the option to turn the dive evade off so I never have to worry about using it by mistake and get hit hard instead of just rolling and take no damage.

You can't use it "by mistake". You have to consciously face away from the monster AND consciously hold sprint. It also has a gajillion iframes before and after its conclusion, it makes absolutely no sense saying something this powerful gets you hit while stuff as crap in this game as rolling/evading doesn't.

I'm more confused as to why the OP is sheathing his weapon so much as LBG. You have access to either Fanning Maneuver or Wyvern Counter, which means that you can easily move yourself out of the way of attacks by turning yourself and pressing R+ZR.

I have no clue why you're sheathing so much to dodge, but just... dodge with your weapon out, or let go of sprint when you press the dodge button while sheathed. I have no clue why you're sheathing to dodge attacks while playing the most mobile weapon in all of Rise, but this is clearly a skill issue.

If they made it a toggle in the menus, then you could never access it when you actually needed it to dodge a nuke when you're poorly positioned, which I feel might be the problem here lol.

Im not talking just about combat, map travel too, stop assuming things.

Do you use controller or keyboard?

That means you're in combat. You only do the dive if a monster is engaged in combat with you (a yellow/red icon over it on the minimap means it's going to/is fighting you).

You don't just randomly do the superman dive, it's a game mechanic and serves a purpose. I hope this clearly explains how I assumed nothing.

Seems like you forgot that you need to sheath your weapon to use items, ergo weapon sheathed during combat, roll dodging before its possible to pull out the weapon because you are attacked after using an item, which makes it possible to do the dive.
Seamus Oct 18, 2022 @ 11:31am
Or, you could just learn to use the game mechanics and quit accidentally diving because you panic.

Don't sprint while you're trying to use an item, then. It's that simple. Once your weapon is sheathed, don't hit the sprint button at all, just roll away. It's that simple.

Oh so now you're willing to engage and not erroneously talk about map travel, nice.

Stop panicking and learn how to use the buttons in relation to the directions. This is like complaining that you do a different attack by pressing forward+attack than simply pressing attack, and wanting to turn off the forward+attack when it's an obvious game mechanic you're meant to utilize. Either roll perpendicular to the attack (which won't result in a dive) or stop sprinting just before you roll away (brief tip, though, as you get higher in ranks and meet things like Tigrex, you're going to need to roll perpendicular to monsters rather than away. It's the worst way to avoid most attacks that aren't Nargacuga's Master Rank second tail slam). Hopefully this helps you.

Randos already die enough in this game man, the last thing I need is them turning off their superman dive.
