Even the simplest act of tracking down your prey make people appreciate how much effort they put in the environment , now all people care is how to get to theirs target as fast as possible .
Casual....
Don't act like you still can't appreciate the environment without tracking. Some people like to hunt those Spiribirds so they explore the environment. The difference is the Player is in complete control of how they wanna pace their hunt. Maybe I wanna collect the birds for better buffs. Maybe I wanna go mining or fishing. I don't have to worry about the monster because I know where they are and can take my time.
I want interesting mechanics, not just immersion :) If I wanted an arena battler, I'd just get an arena battler after all
Eh, you can just look what direction it flies when it leaves mostly
What "interesting" mechanics are you talking about then?
Dunno, tracking the monster in some way, preparing for the fight (maybe laying traps), etc.
And you sorta learn the map over time. It's not like there are 500 zones after all. I even turn off the minimap in world because it's too distracting from engaging with the world. With in I just look at it and follow the path indicated on it instead of actually looking at where I walk and learning the area and how to get around in it.
Shame though the game doesn't have an alternative indicator for monster's being angry.
You've got ways to make your hunts "more immersive/more like hunting
I keep mine big to see if there's any stragglers during the fight, and if there are, well...
In old games you just used Psychoserum or Oracle skill from food or palico and knew where the monster was, Cahoot is a replacement to these.
Some very minor ways, yeah :P
Also since the game isn't designed for it, I'd be effectively sabotaging myself. Would much rather the game be designed for it. Which is rarely ever gonna happen, esp. with this craze of making every game as mass appealing as possible
If it "wasn't designed for it", then there wouldn't be any of these options
