How do I use a Hunting Horn in Rise specifically?
I've used Hunting Horns before in MH World, so I know about attacks adding certain notes to the music sheet meter, then hitting Recital to activate the effects.

I practiced in the training area, but it seems like Hunting Horn has changed from World (googling confirmed this).
I remember being able to double-hit the Recital button and it would do some special performance that doubled the effect of the song (So Attack Up S became Attack Up L, for example), but I can't seem to do that in this game.

For all it's intrusive tutorial popups, the game never really explains how to use a Hunting Horn.
What do I need to know about using one in Rise?

HH in this game no need to perform song by press RT anymore but if you want to go to attact L you should build HH which give that ability. I think rise is good for HH easy to play and have some combat and ability like add attact 20% when full charge gauge and trio swing (read full detail in game8 in monster hunter rise topic)

There are 2 melody modes in this game that you can choose from, and one that you are already familiar with is melody mode; echo. One that you experienced in the training area is melody mode; performance.

In order for you to get your 2nd melody mode: echo, all what you need to so is to craft or upgrade 8 times any hunting horns (just anything like iron or bone).

You can change one of two melody modes at Item box.

all you need really need to know about rise hunting horn is the weapon is so utterly simplified that you may as well consider it a sound hammer. double notes, encores etc are all gone

No kidding?
That's cool to know.

I kinda got it with the purple guage for Infernal Performance, and it seemed the Triple performance was the big thing in this game.
But I'm glad to know I can still unlock the way I did it before.

I was never a master of Hunting Horn, but I also want to try and get good with it.

(I've always been a Longsword main, but ever since World, I've tried to branch out into other weapons.
Heavy Bowgun wowed me with the Wyvernheart, Gunlance has always been comical, and Hunting Horn just seems handy especially in multiplayer.
Longsword will always be my fallback option, as I see it as old reliable. But variety is the spice of life)

At least it's an improvement over MHFU.
In that game, I wasn't a fan of how HH worked in that, entering recital mode and performing attacks in a minigame of sorts to trigger an effect.

The way World did it was much nicer, of storing notes from attacking, then unleash it.
(Did MH3U also do that? It's been too long since I played it.)
