You really shouldn't expect Dragonheart to have consistent uptime in a four hunter group unless everyone is also running it. There's a lot of ways you can healed outside of your control even without someone using wide-range. It's damn depressing to see people actively dislike anyone running wide-range because of a single armor set (hope G-rank Valstrax isn't the endgame meta in Sunbreak).
With that said, a direct issue of WR is if there's already another, more support-heavy hunter in the party, as 2 people who can top-off health/apply buffs is a lot less efficient than if you specialise in damage perks. Is it better to assist the support with their job while sacrificing your personal efficiency? Doesn't help that Wide-Range is a pretty stat-heavy investment and you're likely sacrificing things like Critical Eye, Attack Boosts, or other more essential damage perks.
You can build however you want, it was just an opinion. Personally I have 0 space for wide range in my builds, so I'd be trading off for it. And that's never worth it. I bring 3 dust of life to my multiplayer hunts.... most of the time. If those run out, well, someone else can either throw some, or we'll fail the hunt. Either way doesn't really matter to me.
But that's because adrenaline and heroics predate it by over a decade and you'd get ejected from groups for using wide range or healing hunting horns with them.
Just, stop trying to play healer.
To be fair, if someone was trying to play off heroics in my random group, they would be ejected faster than the healer. Not gunna have some dude turn my hunt into a cartfest because he believes he's better than he is.
However, if it's a premade group going for speed kills with heroics, totally understandable.
To me its just I usually spam items alot. I'm not the cleanest player and most of the people I play with are the same, just overall really helps me and outside of a few things to keep my uptime, I dont' really have any problem with any content and usually run heavy bowgun so its just nice for me.
