Anyone else run wide range in every build?
I feel like it's amazing when playing with randos and it makes those upgraded first aids go super far.

I hate wide range because 90% of the time someone heals me when I'm already chugging a potion. Feels kinda wasted lol

also hate wide range users with a passion. makes the valstrax armor useless in multiplayer, in EVERY random group there is someone playing healer.

I don't use it to play as a healer. I just use it as it benefits everyone as I just play. Like when I use demondrugs, or whatever.

I have a full WR, Recovery Up, Speed Eating, and Free Meal build going. It was fun, but I only use it when I find an Apex hunt (especially emergency). A good amount of hunts I've been finding people running a Valstrax set so once I see a dragonblight, I just farcast out and switch gears.

Except it's an active detriment to anyone who wants to use the valstrax armor.

in the end every one can play how he likes, im overoverexaggerating a bit, but its not as helpful as people think, just get damage perks instead and finish the hunt earlier.

I'm not trying to min-max that is boring to me and un-fun. I clear quickly enough without having to min-max. I just like playing with randos and playing the way I want. I don't think wide-range is this super altruistic thing, I certainly don't play it to be support. I play it because in a team, it gives significant benefits for very little investment. There are exceptions like people that like to run builds where they are damaged for adrenaline or dragon heart but like I said, I run it for me, not for them.

You really shouldn't expect Dragonheart to have consistent uptime in a four hunter group unless everyone is also running it. There's a lot of ways you can healed outside of your control even without someone using wide-range. It's damn depressing to see people actively dislike anyone running wide-range because of a single armor set (hope G-rank Valstrax isn't the endgame meta in Sunbreak).

Until we have an actual raid monster like Kulve or Safi, I think playing support is kind of a waste. Hit the monster with the big stick and make it stop moving faster.

Like I said, I don't run it to be support. DPS is always king but I think with like 70% dps skills, I have plenty of space to run it and overall, I like it personally as it adds a buffer zone. My bro and I usually both use it and we can just face tank most fights with randos that join between our item uses.

Wide Range and support builds in general ultimately depends on your party. As others stated, Valstrax works best with less health, which can make for a peculiar situation. However, because Valstrax is merely a build that I don't see often, I think it's on the Val' hunter to express they're using the set if it's not easily identifiable (a flaw of layered armour). This point is more a criticism on how Valstrax works as it's arguably the most selfish armour-set in the series. But ultimately, it goes both ways: WR AND Valstrax are not pub-friendly, the latter more so than the former.

With that said, a direct issue of WR is if there's already another, more support-heavy hunter in the party, as 2 people who can top-off health/apply buffs is a lot less efficient than if you specialise in damage perks. Is it better to assist the support with their job while sacrificing your personal efficiency? Doesn't help that Wide-Range is a pretty stat-heavy investment and you're likely sacrificing things like Critical Eye, Attack Boosts, or other more essential damage perks.

You can build however you want, it was just an opinion. Personally I have 0 space for wide range in my builds, so I'd be trading off for it. And that's never worth it. I bring 3 dust of life to my multiplayer hunts.... most of the time. If those run out, well, someone else can either throw some, or we'll fail the hunt. Either way doesn't really matter to me.

To be fair, I've hated wide range users since before the valstrax armor was a thing.

But that's because adrenaline and heroics predate it by over a decade and you'd get ejected from groups for using wide range or healing hunting horns with them.

Just, stop trying to play healer.

To be fair, if someone was trying to play off heroics in my random group, they would be ejected faster than the healer. Not gunna have some dude turn my hunt into a cartfest because he believes he's better than he is.

However, if it's a premade group going for speed kills with heroics, totally understandable.

Yea its mostly just about how I like to play. Even if you have a hunting horn uses healing it would ruin a valstrax armor build so its a pretty bad armor set if it doesn't play friendly with weapon.
To me its just I usually spam items alot. I'm not the cleanest player and most of the people I play with are the same, just overall really helps me and outside of a few things to keep my uptime, I dont' really have any problem with any content and usually run heavy bowgun so its just nice for me.
