2. armor : jetboi no contest there. monster design : also jetboi.
3. this isnt even fair. jetboi wins by a LONG SHOT.
4. spikey boi would win this. he eats other elders afterall. its his job to bully other elders. sadly i doubt well see a turf war between them as flagships rarely return this soon in the series.
overall i find jetdragon so much cooler designwise. sure its a bit over the top but it just looks absolutly badass. and the way he zoomes around when he switches zones is so damn cool. like he is there. INSTANTLY. faster than any other monster. which makes sense....
Overall, a jet dragon will always be cooler than an angry horned hedgehog.
I think Nerg is a BIT too spiky. I get that it's his gimmick with regening spikes, but it's a bit much.
Both their themes are great for different reasons. With Nerg you really feel the pressure of fighting a killing machine whereas with Valstrax you feel the wonder of a jet dragon soaring through the skies. I think Nerg's MHS2 theme is killer as well.
On one hand you have a giant jet dragon. On the other hand Nerg could just curl up and Valstrax would crash into a bunch of spikes and suffer the pain of a thousand legos. Pretty even.
Feels unfair. Because its like old vs. new. I like both equally. But with the categories Nergigante would win for me. They are simply more refined for a new generation of monster hunters, while Valstrax has grown somewhat old in comparison. But that is somewhat I think happens to any kind of monster, when the hunter grows, new gameplay abilities come into place, and only the newer monsters are taking those abilties into consideration.
2) I actually like Nergs crazy porcupine look and oversized horns more. At the end if the day, Valstrax is just "what if jet but dragon".
3) Valstrax all the way, especially the GenU version.
4) I might actually say Nerg. He specifically feeds on bioenergy, which Valstrax outputs in huge amounts. Any energy attacks might just make him stronger, and he has insane regenerative abilities, so physical attacks won't do much either. He also utterly dominates other elders like Teostra and Kushala, ALWAYS winning against them. Even nutjobs like Furious Rajang seem to just annoy him, since his turf war with F. Rajang uppercutting him just results in him pimp slapping Rajang across the arena.
2. Valstrax and its not even close.
3. I cant tell which one has better music, because both of them have completly different feeling. Nergigante's theme is supposed to make you feel like you are fighting against something thats supposed to end the world, meanwhile valstrax theme feels much more heroic. Both are good.
4. Just a quick reminder that Valstrax breaks the sound barrier while flying. I dont think many monsters would survive getting dive bombed by a jet dragon flying with a speed of 1234 km/h
2: Spikeyboy looks better design wise. Dragon with jet engines on him? It's a bit silly design really. Armor wise the Nergigante set looked better.
3: The Opera theme of Nergigante has far more impact. Memorable too.
4: Spikeyboy eats other Elder dragons. He killed Shara Isvalda after he was beaten up by us.
He annoys Zorah Magdaros enough to the point where it's an issue.
I don't think a Dragon with jet engines is gonna be that much of a problem.
On Nr 4.
Yet we humans can kill him by hitting him with some point metal things.
If something the size of Valstrax could survive the speed of sound and slamming into the ground he would be immune to all physical damage. Literally. But he's still killed by us. So they play by weird rules.
My 2 cents, it's because both monsters are diametrically opposed on an aesthetic level. It's the simple vs the complex, the down to earth vs the over the top. Nerg has a very standard draconic design, while Valstrax obviously is meant to specifically emulate fighter jet aircraft. Val is also based on the peregrine falcon, which I believe is regarded as the fastest animal in the world(atleast when it's divebombing).
Nergigante is a simple monster to fight. No elemental or esoteric abilities like other Elders have, it's just raw brute strength supported with additional offensive power from its constantly regenerating spikes. Valstrax meanwhile could arguably be considered the most complex fight of the mid sized Elders. It's wings are actually narrow tubes webbed together by an elastic membrane, which allows Val to extend the sharp point of the largest and uppermost tubes forward like javelins. It can twist its wings around so the exhaust holes of the tubes face forward, turning its wings into oversized claws to crush and slash opponents with, or shoot bolts of dragon energy at enemies like missiles, and as of recent manifest a humongous amount of dragon energy and expel it in the form of an intense laser beam.
