Why are turf wars so rare ?
Like, in 80 hours I've seen only one...

Makes sense for those monsters to avoid each other. You can "encourage" them to do more, by using Stinkminks, Wailnards and wyvern riding.

Probably due to it being a handheld game and also in favour of the mount riding system. At the end of most turf wars, one of the monsters usually ends up on the ground and the other one runs away.

They could have repurposed them so the losing monster becomes a mount opportunity which the player can then use to beat the crap out of the winning monster, or pinballs them into the other monster, but yeah.

I guess they figured it was better just to have them beat each other into mount mode instead. Some turf wars do exist, I saw one with Bazelgeuse and I think Magnamalo where they flew into the sky exploding everywhere and I saw one with Tetranadon and Arzuros where Tetra almost ate poor Arzuros lol, but like that's been pretty much the only ones.

That just means Monster Hunter: Solar System is going to be even more AMAZING when they bring turf wars back! :stronk:

Actually... during the past 300 hours or so, there was hardly a game session where I did not see a turf war. If there are two monsters who do not like each other, the turf war most likely happens. Often enough more than once. But that is also probably me hunting all of them at once and leaving them no room to run...

300 hours. this game came out 2 weeks ago. seriously dont talk bs.

as for turf wars they are indeed very rare now. i had turf betwen kush and teo yesterday but that can only happen in the quest where both are present to begin with.

rise feels really lackluster in terms of content sadly. i really really hope sunbreak fixes this. its such a shame really. game is good. but content is lacking for a MH game.

I let you think about that statement and leave it up to you whether you like to take it back to avoid shame or to let it be.

there are in general much less turf wars then in world, and mostly only the later monsters.

Some of them do. I think it depends on the specifics of the turf war (although now I think of it, I think they all generate a mount opportunity at some point, it's just not always at the end of the sequece). Though if the loser is already on a cooldown from being ridden the winner will always run off, same as a normal monster v monster battle.

You generally only see them when you force them to happen. Seeing how Monsters rarely move around and where even Bazel isn't coming to your monster fight if they shout too many times. Just leads to very few turf wars.

In World monsters would move around a lot more and monsters like Bazel would actively seek out monsters that roared a few times so he would love to show up.
Pickles is also the same except he always look for a fight or his chewing toy.
