Makes sense for those monsters to avoid each other. You can "encourage" them to do more, by using Stinkminks, Wailnards and wyvern riding.
They could have repurposed them so the losing monster becomes a mount opportunity which the player can then use to beat the crap out of the winning monster, or pinballs them into the other monster, but yeah.
I guess they figured it was better just to have them beat each other into mount mode instead. Some turf wars do exist, I saw one with Bazelgeuse and I think Magnamalo where they flew into the sky exploding everywhere and I saw one with Tetranadon and Arzuros where Tetra almost ate poor Arzuros lol, but like that's been pretty much the only ones.
That just means Monster Hunter: Solar System is going to be even more AMAZING when they bring turf wars back!
as for turf wars they are indeed very rare now. i had turf betwen kush and teo yesterday but that can only happen in the quest where both are present to begin with.
rise feels really lackluster in terms of content sadly. i really really hope sunbreak fixes this. its such a shame really. game is good. but content is lacking for a MH game.
I let you think about that statement and leave it up to you whether you like to take it back to avoid shame or to let it be.
there are in general much less turf wars then in world, and mostly only the later monsters.

In World monsters would move around a lot more and monsters like Bazel would actively seek out monsters that roared a few times so he would love to show up.
Pickles is also the same except he always look for a fight or his chewing toy.
