You probably do. But you can always take campanions. It will stay on scale on player 1 but with acompany of a npc hunters. If you like Monster Hunter universe deffinitely you can try it. But know that. MH rise is more "mechanical" and more quality of life game than that immersive like previous ones. worlds are more empty, you know instant where is monster, fights are easier and shorter, less chunky and more action packed.

People definitely still play, and will play. But if you just started you might have some trouble finding people to play with. Still, I got assisted on a few low-rank quests via drop-in matchmaking. Setting up a multiplayer lobby and waiting in it is practically a lost cause in my experience, at both low and high rank. Very few people seem to join MP like this.

Starting from high rank any quest that wasn't an Elder Dragon hunt was so easy in multiplayer that it just wasn't fun. Especially considering that if you have a drop-in MP enabled you'll have 3 or 4 people in 15 minutes or less, with everybody rushing and stomping the monster that can barely fight back.

Expansion pack and post-Master rank is were you have to play at your best and might benefit from competent assistance, but then you'll have access to a very competent and versatile team of bots that don't cart, don't scale the quest difficulty with their presence and let you go at your own pace instead of speedrunning the hunt, so multiplayer is still not the most attractive option for a lot of people.

Long story short, you might get a chance to play MP occasionally, but don't expect to beat the majority of quests in multiplayer, unless you find people to play with by other means, outside the game

As it ever was in this series, solo hunters are a silent majority with multiplayer being an occasional fun attraction.

If you don't have friend in real life to play with and never play this series before I don't recomment. This game is old, hard to find player who will help you by random in early game, even this series is easy to solo than World but you need to climb to end game master rank maybe you can find more people by random to play with. I recomment wait till wild release if you want to play with another by random.

20k ppl usual peak players daily

Eh early game is a slog where no one will join to help you but when you reach high rank and master rank there will be people who will join. I don't know if you've ever played Generations Ultimate but the wirebug skills are kind of similar to that. They need to remake GenU and put it on PC. Dumped so many hours into that game and the monster list is huge.

I think it’s worth it. I was fortunate enough to find early mission people but just keep at it if it seems quiet or put a lobby up and someone will eventually join you. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the game if you decide to get it

Game is great solo aswell if you are worried about it, its not like a MMORPG unless you just like playing with other players. I think it will have always people online, you can also ask in discussions I am sure there are many who will be happy to join

To the op: I put on ignore list as it has Enigma DRM :D

Thanks for the jester award.
Just a kindly remind that jesters were the only ones allowed to tell the truth to the king.

it's $20. What do you have to lose? You have until the 21st until the sale ends. I just bought it even though I've been hating on it for years, because it's only $20. There's definitely things to hate about it, like the cringe puppet mounting, but I'm gonna finally give it a fair shake and remember that it's an arcade game. So far, plays extremely well on the Steam Deck on average settings, which is most impressive.

If you don't have World/Iceborne, I 100% recommend that that one for sure.

I would say probably. But don't worry about it, Rise has AI companion when, by miracle, everyone left for Wilds. Not exactly bright companion in the head but can at least assist you in case Palico doesn't do justice.

If you're already played World and are aware Rise is a Portable team title, go for it.

MonHun games are best played solo or with friends, not with randoms. I would not recommend this for multiplayer based on that alone. Once you get to higher tier hunts, you'll probably still be able to find people to play with after Wilds hits, because not everyone buys the new MonHun game day 1. (Smart, patient ones wait for the inevitable expansion to drop. Sadly I'm not that smart or patient.)

Especially if get it on sale, ya it's a solid deal for what you get.

You'll easily have enough time to play through village quests/beat the title monster and enough stuff to do either solo or MP after that point to tide you over until Wilds.

Yeah, honestly having my buddy tell me that when we first started playing, that um...well, help set realistic expectations for the game to be sure. Which it honestly blew past, so yeah...just don't go in expecting World 1.5 or something lol

As long as it has DRM, I don't care if they give it away for free.
For everything else, there's the NSW version.

Whoever wants to understand, let them understand.

What if you're only playing on the Steam Deck? The game runs actually very nicely on average settings and your steam deck isn't connected to your computer unless you download the game to it. If that's still a deal breaker, why?
