co op in this game is 1000x better than world for playing with friends but also way worse for playing with randoms.
That's how MH used to be pretty much. It was never an issue before, it's just that now people are too used to LFR type systems and easy drop-in, drop-out style of multiplayer. Rise's only real issue is that you need a mod to deal with the aggressive region locking, once you do that it works just fine and finding some random people to play with is not as much of a problem. Just keep in mind that not everybody uses this mod and there are less people playing Rise in general, so obviously you will come across less people.
Because it has the classic monster hunter matchmaking. No one is going to join your games at low level. You need to go and enter a lobby. The palico standing on a box i think? Just join a random lobby. It's not a downgrade it is the most common monster hunter multiplayer format. No one is joining random low level runs. This game has been out for years now. everyone is a high level. But you will find lobbies with people helping out noobies and their buddies who just bought the game. Be warned you will be carried into the later stages of the game faster as a result of this.
TLDR: World and Rise have the same matchmaking system, Your just playing a game 4-5 years later and expecting people to still be doing low level content in instant matchmaking. They are not. Go to a low level lobby meet people and have fun. Also get the DLC if you don't have it. Everyone playing this game is playing sunbreak.
People don't choose which game to play because of how multiplayer works, they choose one that suits their preferences more. If you swapped multiplayer systems of both games MHW would still be the most played one and by the same margin.
MHW is what brought the MH franchise to the mainstream and was the first MH game of a lot of newbies. It was also designed to appeal more to overseas players that are used to different things. So yes, obviously more people play World on PC since most PC players never played MH games and were the exact target audience Capcom was aiming for with that game.
Meanwhile Rise was made for their domestic audience and existing fans who were used to different type of experience. A completely different audience that isn't found as much among PC players. So yes, naturally it's not going to be as popular on Steam as World, it was pretty obvious it's going to be like this when you saw the widespread confusion of all the newcomers about that game when it launched, so many misaligned expectations and misconceptions. And that's also why it's the more popular with their domestic Japanese audience, which isn't really surprising either.
I mean for me I'm still playing World even after i've done everything there is to do pretty much just to play multiplayer. I don't do solo hunts really because I just enjoy the multiplayer so much. I played Rise a few days ago after a year of not playing it and I could not really find people unless it was for Amatsu. I tried searching for anomolies from lvl 1 to 80 for like 5 minutes spamming the search over and over. Eventually I got one for a KuluYaKu. I even tried hosting the quest for Lucent Nargacuga and Malzeno and only got 1 person after the Lucent was already dead. To be fair I just enjoy World more but if Rise had better multiplayer I would play it more often like I did when it first came to Steam.
Like I said, you are playing the game because of the game itself. You like the game more, there are more people playing it so it's easier to find people to play with = you choose this one. You don't play it because it has LFR or big lobbies, like some people want to claim. If World's multiplayer worked exactly like Rise's, it wouldn't change anything regarding how many people play it or who likes it. And vice versa, if Rise used the exact same multiplayer system World did it wouldn't be any more popular than it is right now. People who think otherwise just don't understand this industry and how your typical "consumer" thinks.
Edit: Giving me clown awards doesn't make me any less right, but thanks for the points I guess
No idea, I haven't played enough multiplayer in Rise to know if that's even possible, also I played exclusively with premades when I did. You'd have to ask somebody with more experience playing with random people.
I'm pretty certain he is being sarcastic since you almost can't filter at all when searching for a hunt.
Oh, so you just can't read. I see. Here, let me help you:
This is called a premise. Notice the IF
Nice try. The post where I said the thing originally wasn't edited, but I guess you can't read so it's no wonder. Here let me help you again:
You you can't read with comprehension and don't understand the context at all. You took one line from a middle of a sentence and ran with it. We both know you feel very silly now and you're taking your frustration out on me by giving me steam points
By the way what's even your point anymore? Everything I said is 100% correct, if you have any real arguments then just get on with it and stop wasting our time. But if you're just there to stir the pot then I'm out. I am starting to feel like a bully here, you're clearly not capable of holding a conversation so I really shouldn't be so hard on you.
