Awooo!
So me and my friends were hunting in frost islands, and my friend kept saying he was hearing a howling today. I didn't hear it, and when we stopped, he stayed online and got a clip:

Is this new? Has anyone else heard it? I didn't hear it myself in the hunts, but i can definitely hear it in the clip he showed me!

Oh yeah that explains it. Monksnail does that exact same sound when reacting to gestures. Which is exactly what your friend is doing in the video.

I mean the sound at the beginning of the clip, not the sound when my friend starts interacting with his palamute. the very clear awoo that ends after 5 seconds. That's what i mean. That's some monster nearby?

I don't mean that noise. At the beginning of his clip there's a clear howl, then he does his gesture, and gets the monksnail noise. He's going to get me a clip without him doing any gestures.

They're wolf howls. Pretty sure it's just ambience.

it *could* be a tease for lunagaron or something, but normal animals still exist in the MH universe so it's entirely possible it's just normal dogs. as above said, ambience
i think i've heard it too a while ago, never really considered it weird. then again, i probably just thought it was more wind noises lol. i don't remember
