They are decent enough to deal an above average damage but most of them might not be the best weapon of its type. But since they are rather easy to craft (short upgrade tree), it makes them a good introductory weapons to try out a new weapon type.
The valstrax weapon: 170, poor affinity, and only rapid dragon and dragon pierce. Yeah when paired with the set and you get dragon blight you do 20% more damage but your doing like 150% more with the other weapons and set combos
It should be noted that while they are not "best in show" (most weapons do not even have a best in show), they are usually the meta pick vs dragon weak monsters.
SA, DB seem fine to me, bow can force it to work but ultimately wants ibushi instead, otherwise it's all novelty
