What's the point on being able to hit with your shield with the "B" button, instead of just slicing.

a) Does it counts as blunt?
b) Does it haves some chance to stun the enemy?

I know Im missing something.

yes and yes. Also doesn't consume sharpness.

There is also a rising dragon fist attack as a switch silk skill that will guard an attack if timed correctly, doing massive stun damage with 3 hits on the way up, and then to come down, you can either use a plunging sword attack, or another shield pound, the shield pound will also cause even more stun damage

If you want to boost the shield bash effectiveness, try slotting in some Stamina Thief decorations. All blunt attacks in the game does Exhaust damage and SnS is actually quite good at stunning monsters, especially with it's Switch Skill "Metsu Shoryugeki."

It's great for doing wake up hits and can almost counter anything in the game.

You can do it with thrown small bombs too, but the timing is a pain to learn.

the timing is less difficult than the spacing, since it dets early or out of reach if it hits the monster first, not to mention metsu is a frontal block only unlike Serene Pose which also has funny bomb shenanigans

Not only does it do what is mentioned here, but the attacks do not consume durability. This makes it a great option for near-permanent white sharpness on something like Tigrex Sword.

Just keep in mind that shield attacks don't deal elemental or status attack, so its best for high raw builds.
