If you only count console releases as mainline, then Rise isn't even mainline, it's just a ported spin-off. If you count portable releases as mainline, then...
Just because the Devs said that rise isn't a spin-off doesn't make it a mainline game
and who gives a ♥♥♥♥ if its "Mainline" or not, it's called monster hunter and this multiplayer in this version is the worse. Coping for an arguments sake is all it is.
Even the PSP ones was better using xlinkkai or a ps3 to connect it online, you could see lobbies.
the PSP version also supported 16 player lobbies.
Also you could see the quest boards in those big lobbies.
Which made it a better experience than what we have with rise on a PC that is "officially supported" to not suck?
point being is that this game is designed worse than a PSP version from 2008 that was not intended to be played over the internet.
Okay your release date points to freedom unite, again, that game didn't have any online play outside of Japan and even there it was 4 people and you don't have a way to join any quests without being in a lobby, so rise is better in terms of letting you join quests of players that you're not in the lobby of
Freedom unite and Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Had the ability to connect your PSP to a PS3 and play online. It was called Remote play and it was popular at the time and easier than Rise is to find people to play with.
disconnecting was when you played the game in true full screen rather than windowed boarderless. MH has always been sensitive about connections, so when you tab out and your game freezes for a second it'll dc you.
And what you're talking about most likely is ad hoc Party which is a Sony feature, has nothing to do with Capcom/monster Hunter
(At least that's the only thing I could find regarding this and when portable 3rd released Capcom stated that this SONY feature will be used for online play)
so it's the same as using the xlink kai argument, that's like saying MH world had better voicechat in the pc version because you can use discord on the pc
Did some more digging, when I stated that mhfu only had multiplayer in Japan it came from a source when ad hoc party wasn't released outside of Japan
