How is the multiplayer

I bought world a couple years ago could not figure out the multiplayer was a pain in the ass and I'm hoping someone can explain how the multiplayer is for this one before I buy it thanks

If you want to join people quests via matchmaking you need this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterrise/mods/1044
You can join people lobbies without that mod and play with them.

a lot easier to join and have people join, two routes to play:
village quests:
- this is tutorial and story goes up to HR6
- this is solo ONLY, cannot play with other
HUB quests:
- this is where progression really happens, if you were to do village quests first and finish it, it will just tell you to continue into the HUB
- this is multiplayer, you can randomly join or host quests to reach to LR/HR/MR
- no cutscenes and no need for weird work arounds

you can play the entire game online, the village quests can be avoided completely if don't care for it

other guy posted a mod which you'll need need player count is low in the US region, Asia is high

Multiplayer is great! just use the mod that people have mentioned for matchmaking, joining others lobbies, and join request. Otherwise. its gonna be pretty dead. however the mod works great, defintly improves my experience. i can even find LR group easily

MP is working but feel dead. game is not dead but feels dead. if you have friend to play with just play with them.

Do you use the better matchmaking mod? its like a whole different game. Its poppin like world at that point, cause the 20-30k peaks we get is just in our region yea? imagine it with all regions at once

If you want to use SOS only, use the mod. If not, just use lobbies.

to be fair even lobbies are scarce, especially since most people are in Master Rank endgame grind,

The better matchmaking mod will help open up the options of you JOINING other people, by searching worldwide regions for lobbies and join request,

It will not help other joins YOU though, So its best to have the active approach of joining others. its nice cause unlike previous MH titles, your "Urgent Quest" does not have to be posted by YOU, you can join someone elses and it counts as clear

i do have the mod still feels dead. searching for quest takes 5 min to 10 min or nothing to find. that why i almost played solo and just played with friends.

either you're AR is too low and cant joined a Higher AR quest or ask a someone's lobby for help or make friend and play together.

Oh woah, I havnt tried it with anomaly ranking stuff. also depends if you have the thingy set to "far" or "worldwide" But for sure, the mod doesnt fix everything and it can be hard to find things

It is a hit or miss depending on what your trying to do, and what time of day your doing it at.

I feel the base game is a bit more populated then SB. however. in SunBreak you can just use followers.
