You should also note that weapon augments in this game increase element far higher than raw. To the point that weapons that don't even start with high elemental values will eventually hit higher numbers through that alone.
Those element numbers will easily double, triple, if not even quadruple Iceborne's strongest element weapons. The raw values meanwhile will be much closer together between all weapons.
Not to mention several armor skills will boost raw and element, further pushing how much element will help. And of course, since weapons get such high element numbers, element skills will add a whole lot more damage from the percent increases.
How important raw or element is can vary heavily depending on the fight too though. There are some where element is crucial to inflicting any meaningful damage, and then there are some where the monster element hitzones are low enough that raw is nearly as good.
But yes, go for element with any weapon you use often in this game just to deal with anything thrown at you more easily.
Elemental damage is more beneficial for fast hitting weapons like dual blades, bow, and charge blade, while raw damage is more preferable for slow hitting weapons like great sword and gunlance.
Other weapons like long sword, switch axe, and hammer can use either elemental or raw damage, depending on the situation and the preference of the user. However, raw damage tends to be preferred, cause is more versatile for multi-monster hunts and requires less investment and risk.
Therefore, the choice of elemental or raw damage may not be the same for every weapon, contrary to Lin claims.
If you want my honest opinion, elemental damage is not very significant for Long Sword, since most of the damage comes from the Spirit Gauge and the Spirit Blade attacks.
Most ls meta builds are elemental, blast, poison or raw damage ls sets are niche and used for the few monsters with very bad elemental hitzones like crimson glow valstrax.

Regardless everyone is free to use what they want, what I said still applies.
Peppo armor don't use qurious augment so the dmg maybe a bit low. I share the clip just about his opinion about which element/raw LS good to use, ppl feel free to use it or not.
Its sadly the reverse of world where raw was best for like 90% of weapons now its elemental for everything have fun making 5 dif sets for every weapon
Source please.
Watched a few speed runs, literally everyone is using elemental, even against ♥♥♥♥ like astalos. Even tested damage myself with just the standard overhead swing against pukei, thunder hit a bit harder then Full raw tiggy(highest raw LS). That isn't even factoring in the other boosts that I could be getting from mail of hell fire or strike among other things.
To my knowledge endgame raw builds use status weapons to take advantage of buildup boost. I can't really comment on LS specifically though.
The only builds that languish a bit are status builds because of how resistance works. But even then...
Capcom did a really great job making pretty much any build a viable option all the way through the end game in rise.
Unlike world where there are VERY clear winners.
