Yeah, this game has a way of making you think you beat/finished it about 3 different times, lol.
Valstrax is not a story boss.
In current game it is better to immediately jump into sunbreak asap since you'll get hr along Mr points. There is 0 reason too farm to hr 100 before sunbreak lmfao
Technically since you're getting into semantics there are even harder fights then valstrax in base game I'd argue are "the real last bosses" but that doesn't mean you need to do them or they're part of the story.
The last monster in the base game is Crimson Glow Valstrax, and is as much part of the story, as the elder monsters you fight before it.
Their gear for sure is nothing to brag about however, you can get better gear in the base game, which is quite a disappointment.
Valstrax is not really part of the story lmao
The story very much ends at allmother. Hence the "new ending" reveal after slaying it. Sure it's a new fight, but OP literally mentioned the "credits" and so I thought the conversation was based on story progression.
This is like arguing AT velk is part of world's story rofl - even thought AT velk was added after fatalis iirc and was technically the "last fight of iceborne" it added nothing to the story.
If we're arguing semantics and "last fights" that actually goes to the ridiculously hard los, which once again is not part of the story.
Either way my point remains, literally 0 reason to farm 100 HR for valstrax if you intend on buying sunbreak eventually. Which if you've completed ALL of base game, you really should do.
Edit: Yeah I'm right, velk got added in october while fatalis got added in september
Same way using the credits to define the end of progression won't help you, cause we see credits roll in Monster Hunter Rise multiple times, which does not mean is over.
Fact remains the last monster in base game is Valstrax, any other claims are false, and you going in circles to try and justify your claims.
Monster Hunter Rise base game progression ends the moment you finish Urgent Hub Quest "The Crimson Glow", which is why is part of the Hub Progression.
Works exactly the same as all the other Elder Dragons, there is nothing else to say on this matter.
Whatever helps you sleep at night man, doesn't change the fact it has nothing to do with story progression
