was Rise optimized for handheld ? i don't know which part you're referring to
Rise performance on Switch definitely isn't 60fps
it doesn't have couch co-op , but it has local co-op where 2-4 people could just be in the same place connect to the same internet spot and do co-op together
(MH on PSP has similar function where player can do co-op together without internet but they had to be within 50m of each other)
So yes, it was developed to be on switch first and foremost.
We did get other versions eventually though, which is great.
What if i said monster hunter worlds combat and transversal were lacking because it doesnt have fast combat or a mount. thats silly. they're different games with different design direction.
1. Character poses have no animation
2. Monsters have no idle behaviours (their AI is greatly simplified vs World - they either fight you or mill around, no going to the river to drink water, gazing at the moon or taking a ♥♥♥♥ in front of you)
3. Environmental features are greatly simplified (nothing like the waterfall collapsing in Ancient Forest)
4. Map complexity is overall reduced (some might say this is for the better but ymmv)
5. Overall graphical fidelity is lower
6. Some shadows fade out in about 20 metres (those who know what I'm talking about will know, it's very noticeable and annoying)
7. No capturing of endemics for your room
8. Endemics variety is greatly reduced - only animals you see are basically hunting helpers
9. Half the armour variety of World (and old world, because old world had blademaster and gunner sets)
There are probably more I've forgotten, but most of these are down to the Switch's lower processing power.
2. Straight up wrong.
3. There's Wyvern Riding to make up for it.
4. Thank god the maps aren't a f*cking 3D maze anymore.
5. Well yeah the game was made for a handheld console. Also we're not even talking game features anymore, it's just game design. Though i'd argue the level design and themes are still very good for what they're working with.
6. I haven't noticed it since it's not very game changing, but would make sense since it was made for a handheld console.
7. Well yeah you're playing Monster Hunter, not Pokemon.
8. Fair enough.
9. There's still plenty armour variety though ???
Bonus 10. Rise has a bunch of elements and features World doesn't have, like customizable weapon movesets, the palamutes, the fact you can hunt with some NPCs that come with their own quests, and much more.
