and many combat option and many system is lock behind story progress
You played 2 hours of this game and left a negative review (which is also obviously bait, "no soundtrack at all for battles, you need to pay for it" lmao), you experienced next to nothing it gives you and came to the forums to say it's a scam? I swear you guys are desperate for steam points.
What about the combat sucks? Plays like a MH game just with some extra bits to it.
I think 2 hours is enough, considering it's the time that Steam gives to you to refund any game on this platform.
(Quite hot in Rio, don't you think?)
You're approaching MH in general wrong (Since I saw you also reviewed World with low playtime), combat is not like the usual action games, it's much more reactive than proactive as the monster is the one that dictates the fight 90% of the time, experience with all 14 weapons to see which ones you actually enjoy, there's a training area after the buddy plaza you can test them out.
I'm gonna be honest no one actually cares about MH story, it's generally really simple and the ecology is the fun part of it.
Sunbreak is the expansion, it comes AFTER the base game.
It's definitely not enough for a MH title, If you had a bad first impression that's fine it happens but 2h is genuinely not even scratching the surface of it and I do think you should keep at it to find your comfort zone.
(My fan is on 24h a day bro)
Well, I'll continue playing to see how it goes, but something tells me that I already reached the core of the game with just a few more minor changes to see in the future. Puting the Story aside, I'll give another chance for the gameplay, need also to test more weapons as you said, so far I did only use the Bow and long Sword. A friend of mine said to go back to World, saying the game gets better with progression than how it happens in Rise.
(I'm from ES but currently living in RJ) Damn summer.
I kinda disagree with going back to World if you're already not feeling Rise, it has a lot more tedious stuff that gets in the way of the actual fun part of the game imo so it might leave you a bit bored if you're not really patient for it
There's an incredibly strong possibility you haven't actually reached the depth of gameplay with the longsword. I see you're a fan of God Eater, MH is a bit slower than GE but the weapons are more involved. LS is a counter-based weapon in Rise, and you typically will hit the monster with your standard attacks and avoid damage by using fade slashes, foresight slash, Iai Spirit Slash (RT + B, RT right as an attack is about to hit you). That'll build your LS's gauge from white to yellow to red, and you can then spend red gauge to perform the Soaring Kick into a Spirit Helm Breaker (LT + Y, after the kick hits, RT). That'll consume a wirebug and 1 level of your spirit gauge (so if it was red, it'll go to yellow). You can also build spirit gauge using the spirit blade (RT) combo with the last hit leveling it up, but your gameplay loop initially will be to loop raising your gauge and then spending in Soaring Kick > Helmbreaker, which will require you knowing when it's safe to hit the monster.
I have a feeling you're very experienced with action games, which will be to your benefit when you actually try to learn the weapons, but I have a very strong feeling that you didn't experience the core of LS gameplay in just 2 hours.
Bow simply isn't a ranged weapon in low rank. It's my favorite weapon in the game, but it's quite possibly the worst weapon in the game in LR because it's so reliant upon armor skills to be worthwhile, so if you want to try it, I'd recommend waiting until high rank or even master rank (Sunbreak).
If you need help clearing LR/HR, I can always make a low rank set and help you with hub quests.
Thank You for the tips and info. As I said I intend to continue to play for the gameplay changes that will come. I really didn't know anything about the combos with long sword, I'll be sure to take note on that to improve my gameplay. I see people saying to use Long Sword for the start, is that good?
