Why did they add the Shock Absorber skill?

It just seems to be an alternate level 1 Flinch Free, but which doesn't apply to monsters / can't be upgraded.

And the people who complained about having to use Flinch Free in the first place were taking issue with it consuming a skill slot... which Shock Absorber still does.

So is there any reason whatsoever to bother with Shock Absorber rather than Flinch Free? Or does the latter no longer work on player attacks? Is THAT it?

So... you were playing melee without Flinch Free... and I'm guessing you were Longswording? I'm also guessing you were carried to Amatsu. Just a hunch.

I dont play LS since I suck with it in this game. I only play IG, SA, DB, Lance and Hammer. And yes I never used flinch free. Since it not required unless gunners mindlessly spam bullets.

IG has innate flinch free with orange but in times where it hasn't.. it's an issue when there are 2-3 gunners spamming pierce form all directions.

Whats with that weird bite reflex suddenly? Do not assume things without knowing anything.

Their two sides to this conversation, Those that use it because they know what it's like to get smacked into the air, or ragdoll from players attacks, and those that play offline and have no need of it.

I suppose I get not using it for IG, if you maintain the Orange boost 100% of the time... but that doesn't really apply to the others.

Something my work taught me.
I could ask and wait around for an answer that might never come... or I could make a guess and run with it. I might be right, in which case I'm already ahead... and I might be wrong, in which case I just drop what I was doing and start over, but then I'd be starting over the same way if I'd just waited for the answer. So on average it pays in time to just make an educated guess and run with it until I know better. Effort may be wasted, but time is worth more.

I don't work for any bank, no. I work for lawyers. But honestly I expect the approach I learnt would work just fine for a lot of people in a lot of industries, because it is mostly about dealing with people and managing their expectations. They tend to like it more if you've already got what they wanted done before they're finished explaining what exactly they wanted. Conversely, they tend to get a bit irate if you have to ask them 20 questions before you even start working on it.

Would have been fine if what I'd said was wrong, but it wasn't. You simply picked a context in which it wouldn't work, but that doesn't negate the existence of contexts where it does work, even within a bank.
The key point of it all is that getting things potentially wrong and fixing them later is often a viable option, rather than waiting for a certainty that might never happen... which can simply lead to stalling up and never getting anything done simply for the sake of personal pride.
