Join requests are a mess, the players joining you didn't know they were joining a quest that's been going on for 37 minutes because the game doesn't tell you anything with join requests.
Carting is just what randoms do, better use followers.

As a rule of thumb, if no one has joined the quest after ten minutes it's better to just cancel join request. No sense in doing all the work just for some rando to claim all the rewards for so little of the work.

honestly whenever i make a join request i either afk for the first few mins or collect stuff if i feel like it, i start the hunt when the first person joins, i've not had a point where no one joins after 10 mins doing this (i honestly can't remember a time it took more than 5mins for the first to join, after the first it seems like more join, i assume there is a queue and the game fills join requests in order). But also its all region locked so if your region isn't great for match making it may take longer

there is a reason why 5 carts investigation exist use them to reduce the trouble with randos
it is much better to stick with the same team in an anomaly session

What is a rando is that a multiplayer thing
Rising Tempo May 23, 2023 @ 5:59pm
rando just means other random players who you ended up hunting together on a quest when you joined a quest or when other players joined your quest and you don't know who they are.

Thats rough buddy. Better luck next time.
Max May 23, 2023 @ 8:59pm
Yeah, I can feel it. That why if I post the quest with 3+ monster, no one join until only the last monster left, then I just close it so ppl can't join anymore :VBCOOL:

Matchmaking is a mess, once was waiting for almost 15 minutes until players were finally joining my quest.

The problem is the way they've designed quests.

Filtering anomaly quests by large level numbers is a big mistake, that means players are even more spread out because some are trying to find and focus on quests of certain levels to gather the materials they want, some others just started playing Rise or Sunbreak, everyone stopped playing Rampages or some event quests, so trying to find help to beat them now is almost impossible.

This kind of matchmaking with 10,000 players average and region locked simply doesn't work.

The only way to mp this game properly is either with a group of friends or trying to join random hunts with the MM mod.

Hosting yourself is bad since you need others to have the MM mod to even have slightest chance to get some randoms in.. lobbies are hit or miss.. but mostly bad.

you need an assist? i sent you a friend request, i do hunting horn, lance, or Hbowgun

You are correct, but that still doesn't excuse the ignorance of the randoms. Whenever you join a quest, it takes 3 seconds or less to pull up the quest info screen to see how many faints are left, time has passed, etc.

Yes - the info may not be apparent, but it's not like it's out of sight to an absurd degree. If people really wanted to know, they'd well...know.

Makes me miss the old games. Lobbies for hunting specific monsters. No joining hunts in progress. Same hunters for each hunt so you get the time to understand their individual quirks and it actually builds a sense of team-work. Only about a 50% chance of any given hunter being a useless waste of a slot.
And yeah, fewer "quality of life" things that currently exist to erase all the immersive parts of the game between one fight and the next.

Since World we just get random casuals with the "lol just a game" attitude begging for carries or just bumbling from one hunt to the next, getting carted all over the place and ruining everything for everyone... which is ironic since the series has become more "Press X to Win" than ever before.

About the only thing somewhat for the better is that hunts are now all scaled to the number of players.... so we don't even have an excuse to socialise at all any more. It is objectively better to just hunt alone or with AI than gambling on randoms.

100%. It's that last part that has me especially worried about the future of the franchise.

Also, while many may disagree, I'll even take it a step further and say that gatekeeping (to a reasonable degree; no - not childish harassment) is necessary to preserve the (better) quality of the game and franchise as a whole. To be more specific, I'm seeing far too many people in ranks/hunts where they clearly should not be. Yes - this has always been the case as in any game with such aspects. However, in Rise, this is just the norm now vs. it being a lot more rare as it was in the past entries. While the followers ARE objectively good, they have unfortunately have the negative of causing "bad" players to basically get carried by the AI and stunt their development willfully or unbeknownst to them. This leads to what we have now - players taking that same lack of player growth into the "big boy" hunts causing problems for those that are actually trying to get things done.

Gone are the days where MH was all about preparation, resource management, keeping careful track of the hunt and chess tactics.

Nowadays its all about spawn in the map then run straight to the monster and blindly hack away.
