With that i fight him for all eternity…
As this video shows, he does not attack continuously. So when his turn to attack is over, there will be an opening, so attack him there. Also, be careful when he is looking at you in a defensive position.
I use only hunting horn (and have for a few MH games) narga is pretty fun to fight with heavy weapons because he's got such big telegraphs, its pretty easy to swing at air and hit him because he will jump into your swing.
you never need to wait for an opening, he has dead spots in most of his attacks, if you learn those you can just stand and kill him as he attacks air over and over.
basically, listen to gretzky and go where the puck will be and not where it is
edit to add about the spins... he will spin once and then again if any hunter wirebugs back to their feet. knowing this you can literally just recover but aim to the right or left of him and he'll spin to counter it and then just stand there for you to hit him because you were safely triggering his wirefall punish. ALL wirefall punish moves work this way and you can use them to your advantage by aiming to the side of the monsters or simply delaying it for a second (this will cause them not to punish your wirefall so you can land the hit you want).
One last edit to add that the wirefall trick only works if you do it in the direction of the monster, so wirefalling backwards will not trigger a punish, it has to be close but not so close to get hit so learn hitboxes and use the frames of invuln you have during the start of wirefall to do what you need
Nargacuga is still annoying though
Nargi is my most hunted monster at like... I think 78? 80? hunts and GS is my main, but I play all the weapons outside of ones that rhyme with "Pnsect Plaive," "Seavy Sowgun," and "Fight Fowgun."
A big thing about one of the particular tail slam attack combos is knowing that they come from the same general area each time, but at two different angles of the target (you or someone else).
One tail slam goes down that you can almost always avoid by just moving/rolling left or right. Following that, Nargi will jump to the target's side and do another slam, which you can just avoid by moving/rolling forward or backward.
For general countering moves/abilities, stick to only doing them for the second slam.
I still have moments where I forget and eat ♥♥♥♥ because I thought I could just counter with CB/Lance/GS/GL/SA on the first one and be fine.
I find that focusing on severing the tail as quickly as possible can make the rest of the hunt a lot easier.
GS also has a mystical, 4000-year-old Chinese power that I often forget is even a thing: 'actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ holding up your giant, 1-ton sword and blocking with it.'
It's not the best, but it can save you from some serious damage, a wirebug recovery, and/or just being knocked out of position.
I will say, the thing that gets me nearly every time is the super slow jump.
My brain just cannot compute seeing her go flying all over with incredible speed to suddenly attacking so slowly as if some distant wizard cast the Slow spell targeting her just before the jump.
Unless you're playing a weapon that can just deal with the spins with ease in either or both the counter or blocking department [*coughs in Lance*] then the spins are just something you pretty much have to get the hell away from and then come back in once it's more safe or you just shove yourself in spots inside her where you don't actually get hit.
That is, unless you learn to do what was earlier mentioned:
This is pretty big to learn for the much later parts of the game if you haven't been that far in yet.
I never got very good at that kind of wirefall punish stuff even after 1,100+ hours, so I'll have to take his word on it when it comes to Nargi.
I will say, I don't know how everyone else feels, but I really like Nargi in 5th Gen, ngl.
Narga's main weakness is that she is stupidly easy to flinch.
You need to play aggressively against her and learn to knock her out of her attacks. Smack her in the face or breakable parts for best effect.
And if you can't manage that, just use Flash Bombs. They're there for a reason. They work on all sorts of stuff (besides Khezu and Gorey, who are both blind). Use the opportunity to smash her bodyparts as it lowers her mobility.
If u blindly chasing after narga u are just wasting your time since it will jump away by the time you reach the place, observe how it reposition and be ready at the spot
