It's hardly different from other endgame content. I remember grinding nothing but Tempered Teostra in vanilla World for the awful weapon augment drop rate, or the same few Tempered elders in Guiding Lands come IB.
Alternatively you can just post your own quest rather than join random quest.
Or just join lv 1-200, it's more varied here but you'll still get an occasional Diablos+Seething though its not as often as previous TUs.
I'm not quite sure how the whole special investigations work currently - however from what I understand is - once you have 1 monster to level 300 you can do that specific monster in the special investigation - If that's the case then you'll probably won't see many people doing those.
For me personally I would have a specific build made for that specific monster and either farm it up to level 300(while improving it) on my own as it would it would be more consistent then having some random come in and not be prepared for that specific monster.
There are so many builds and weapons in this game - Kinda gotta space your time out - unless your in a hurry to play something else otherwise, if that's the case then you've already completed the level requirement of 240 congrats. 240-300 is really only for people who want to create new builds - and perfect their current ones with the final challenge at 300.
And Thickblood become irrelivant really fast, game is just throwing resources in your face, there is no grind. I have hundreds of thickblood and slogbones, iam just using them as a casino money in charm melding
Grinding to 300 is a bit of a slog, just figure out which monster you have the easiest and most consistent time hunting and then grab an Investigation with 3 different modifiers as they stack multiplicatively in your rewards. At the start of TU5 I quickly augmented 5 elemental DBs and used fire DB to spam farm Risen Valfalk for easy points, so maybe explore some weapon options, it helps to keep things interesting.
Once you're at 300 the real fun starts, you want to obtain a level 300 quest for every possible Anomaly main target to get your hands on its Special Investigation. I'm currently only missing a few monsters, mainly because I only use Investigations with cool monster combos or 2+ modifiers.
Still haven't seen a Lucent or Violet appear either, and until EX Malzeno becomes a main target we can't clear all Special Investigations anyway, so I'm farming cool quests now while hoping for talismans not to disappoint me every single meld.
I'll upgrade that weapon, I'll go for attack, time to farm the same monsters I did for all the other weapons I raised attack in. Where all but the last upgrades give me near no exp.
Fight boggi, khezu, mud fish, etc
I'll get 2-3 afflicted mats a lot of the time per quest. Then use end game stuff to pay for the upgrade "Fee" and the game can tell me "Hey your spending more points here, you sure you want us to be ripped you off buddy?"
I know not everyone is a weapon collector, but for me its boring as LBG collector. Theres only upgrade raw or upgrade affinity. So its always the same monsters.
And your coins go zoom zoom gone if you pay. 1500 coins gone like a flash, with a couple 5 here, a couple 5 there at 40 or more a piece.
If I fight risen its about getting mats to burn rolling talsmins. Pretty good deal he's got going, give him 30 tals and get 0-3 rarity 10 on average in my experience.
The achivements carry late game HARD for me. Because they give me goals besides fight the same monster all the time.
Like finding clues can change things up. Like lead you to an afflicted mat stockpile or find out that the monster has a critical weakness, or that theres a rare monster in the area, or give you an extra carve on the monster, or allow you to capture it, etc.
Added new random monsters that can only show up in anomoly quests
Allow some affliction quests to allow capturing or punish killing the monster.
Have some afflicted gather quests/subquests like, get afflicted egg from afflicted parent's nest, catch afflicted fish, study afflicted ore, etc.
Ability to find cool stuff in afflicted quests like afflicted plants that make new consumables, afflicted fish, etc. Some gear only found in afflicted quests. Ability to find talismans as part of clues (Even if bad its still good for rerolls)
Let the mewocinaries find low tier afflicted mats when you hit higher research levels. Or find afflicted coins.
Added in tiered Mystery quests that drop you in with no supplies, camps, and random monsters. But give a good payout based on tier.
Afflicted expeditions where you get better rewards the more you kill.
Afflicted arena quests where you use antique/qurio'd weapons, and qurio crafted gear provided to you. (Yeah, I know, nearly no one uses the arena)
Make afflicted tails easier to cut and always give an afflicted mat on top of the regular carve
Afflicted small monsters.
Debuff quests, such as the player always has dereliction active.
Afflicted apex, that finally have armor sets or useful mats.
Reuse the rampages, but have the final boss of them be afflicted
so on.
