Cant Ride Wyverns?
Every time i try to ride a wyvern in monster hunter rise, i go to "move" and about 3 seconds in the monster just falls over. So i can never travel to another monster across the map, i always have to wait for a turf war or something so the monsters are near each other, what am i doing wrong.

R2/right trigger/special attack is the button you need to hold for the monster to run.
Theres a prompt iirc

if you launch them at a wall once, they will fall over shortly after if you dont launch at another wall.

Go to the quest givers, select "Training quests" and pick "learning to ride" might also help you.

Well whenever i watch videos, someone rides a monster all the way cross the map to the another monster without launching them at a wall first, or even if they launch them at a wall. But im on PS4 and the move button is R1. Ive even tried to launch them at a wall every couple of seconds and that doesnt get me too far either.

At this point, I would suggest the comment above.
Go to the Village quest training via Hinoa and find the "Wyvern Ride" tutorial
I do feel like sometimes they just trip. I doubt this is your issue it seems like you're misunderstanding how riding works, but I do feel like in arena missions especially at times the monster does this behavior where it just falls over after like 3 steps without any other damage, input, etc except holding R1 equivalent and moving forward or what have you. It doesn't happen consistently so I always assumed its not intentional, but it DOES happen if you ram into a wall and then wait too long to slam into another one. When you FIRST jump on the monster, using only the move button and the directions, you should by all reasons be able to travel anywhere in the map you want as long as you dont use all the timer up.

You need to go into details there, otherwise you get only guesses if the normal behaviour does not apply.

a) cable or wireless controller?

b) does the issue persists using a different controller?

c) when you start the ride and just wait, does the monster throw you off before the timer runs out?

If you're riding a monster by doing wirebug skill damage to it, you will only be able to ride it long enough to run it into the walls of your area.
If you want to ride the monster all the way into another area, you need to use a puppet spider on the monster.

No, you dont need the puppet spider to ride to another monster.
You just need enough damage to put it into the state of wyvern riding and then just travel to the monster you need/want to fight.

Weird but after i did the training quest for riding wyverns, im now able to ride monsters across the map. With either using a puppet spider or doing enough silkbind damage, it works fine now lol

Works fine after you've learned how to do it properly, nothing weird.

There are a couple bugs with wyvern riding right now though. One kicks you off the monster instantly for no reason at all, the other disables you being able to use the finisher and wont regen used wirebugs, so you end up looking like a moron sitting still on the monster.

I think the finisher one has to do with followers, it only happens to me when I decide to bring them along,

I've also been having this issue recently where they won't move. It doesn't effect anything else so it doesn't bother me since I can still attack but for some reason sometimes you can't move at all (R1/RB + analog stick). It seems really rare but I've had it happen to me at least twice. Always in an arena too. Not enough times to be sure whats up though
