Some are upset at the anomaly endgame grind, others upset at the game's monetization and pushing of DLC's, and some just think the game was underwhelming in terms of updates and base content.
But I personally wouldn't listen to reviews when it comes to deciding whether or not you want the game. It's an individual experience. I personally loved it myself.
If you read the reviews you can tell without any effort that the complaints are rather... special. Things you mostly cannot come up with, even if you think about it long enough.
it is what capcom is doing literally since mh3 or even longer
you always got base game and a year later ultimate, while they use now some fancy names like iceborne or sunbreak
If you're not bothered by the mtx and wanna enjoy the game for just the content of monsters, or if the game doesn't crash or crap out on you (I heard this can still happen by some freak chance to a few people) ?
It's definitely worth the price then, you're probably going to be playing this more than most other games out there and not be anywhere close to finished doing everything that can possibly be done, there's a ridiculous amount of things to do in SB, arguably to some even way too much..
For example, I've taken a break from the Anomaly grind until the final TU, because I was just burning out with how slow it is past level 150, so you shouldn't be worried at all about running out of things to do, even at max level you're still going to likely be doing a lot of Qurio crafting, for better or for worse.
This doesn't have all the praised like Iceborne but still worth it.
Iceborne and Sunbreak both have mixed reviews, but asking anyone who plays either World or Rise and they will full on recommend you buy the expansions.
