I don't get the praise for primordial malzeno that I am seeing
I hope i'm just missing something but this fight is awful. conceptually I like the idea of the fight and the monster, but man its barely even a fight. its more like an interactive movie. he does some super coreagraphed like ultra backflip wingstab sheild rush bull and don't get me wrong it looks great but he just never stops. the only real openings in the fight are just the ones that the devs literally baked in because they know its bad. his attacks have massive blindspots and safe spots but it doesn't matter. like "good job you found the blindspot in his attacks now just avoid the next one" its not even hard. then he powers up and it starts to almost aprach a good fight but I think thats because of lazy design. they just copy pasted a bunch of normal malzeno attacks and forgot to make them ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. if they would leave normal malzeno open then they leave primordial open. UNTIL you get punished for hitting him by knocking him out of his powerup state where he actually pauses between attacks. and then if you get his health down low enough he enters a risen-like mode where there is no consistancy if he pauses after attacks or not. sometimes he does and sometimes he just goes into more attacks, don't worry tho because the OC do not steal who is fighting the power of the 9 tailed beast within is fighting to try and stay the main character and while he does that you can hit him.

run around till he powers up or the devs throw you a bone boring BORING fight. its ok the because the devs knew he was garbage so they gave him kirin health. man is built like toilet paper and not the name brand kind, no this is some bargain bin, on sale, you can see your fingers through it, public bathroom toilet paper.

its a horrible fight because your not really intended to interact with it. just run around until his hardcoded main character fighting the demon inside moment lets you comfortably commit to an attack and then your done in 10 minutes or less. its horrible.

I get where you're coming from. I'm just not AS angry at it.

In a nutshell, it's just a poorly designed fight. They essentially gave him the Risen Shagaru Magala treatment. To be more specific, the fight IS still technically "good" in a sense, but it's as if it was designed for a completely different game. You spend more time chasing/dodging that you do actually fighting. Sure - it DOES look nice, but at the end of the day I came to throw hands.

Having said that, I think Shaggy and Malz were made this way due to the devs basically designing themselves into a corner so to speak. They made hunters far faster and more capable than they've ever been. Therefore, the only solution for "challenge" that they could muster up was to hop the monsters in question up on crack and be done with it. The only thing is that now the monsters are running around the hunters in circles vs. being somewhat in balance or slower as the rest of the roster.

Wouldn't say the fight has a "bad" design, it's just incredibly cheap.
Every update monster had some kind of AOE ultimate and they really thought "what if we made a monster where every single attack is an AOE ultimate?"

Bad, cheap, etc. - Can we not play semantics here?....Regardless of what term(s) you want to use, the fact of the matter is that the fight is not properly designed within reason to the game it's in.

I disagree. It’s attacks arnt really the issue. It’s the lack of interesting interaction the monster allows. It allows none. Run in a circle. Stuff your face in its chest to dodge all of its non energy based attacks and then when it roars, fights against the bugs, or uses a vanilla Malzeno move attack it. Countering it is borderline stupid, trying to sneak in hits between its attacks is borderline stupid put your weapon away and just run around and sometimes dive till the Mario-esque “please hit me” sequences happen. It’s so unbelievably boring. At least it has no hp I guess but that’s horrible design

Don't get me started on that "Mario" phase. When I witnessed it for the first time, my jaw dropped. This wasn't because it was "amazing" (yes - it does look cool, but follow me for a moment). I just genuinely couldn't believe they took it THAT far. It genuinely reminds me of some of those modded/meme monsters modders made for World. It's as if they took the design of Risen Shaggy and not only said "This is fine.", but went even further and cranked it up to 11. Again, yes - it's flashy and cool, but it's just not engaging in any way. As you alluded, trying to fight it during it's "not time to actually fight" phases is basically suicide.

I think Primordial is great scenic fight, but not a good fight more than once.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if it wasn't for the ending segment just being "Objective: Survive" until he starts suffering from his super aids and I can get in a few good hits before repeating the original objective.
He just moves too quick, deals too much damage, has too much coverage with attacks, and just leaves you sitting there with only a single thought running through your head "what the ♥♥♥♥ is even happening...?"

Can you be good enough to just fight as if nothing different had happened during the last phase?
Sure, but I doubt the majority of the playerbase is Peppo-level good to find it to be such.

The worst part to me is that he's just treated as if he was just another monster rather than something more special.
You do the Urgent and then it's just like "lmao, that's just a Primoridal Malzeno, enjoy it in your Investigations"

Risen Shagaru and Primordial Malzeno both annoy the ♥♥♥♥ out of me.

your text is full of insults and asumptions - there is no need to discuss with you, since you are biased from the beginning

Well his entire Bloodlust state is fully telegraphed, in fact everything he does is telegraphed. That means it's up to the player to dodge or block his attacks after learning them.

He's objectively amongst the best fights in this game, he just needs more HP so he doesn't die after the second combo string in Bloodlust state and yes, I'm talking about his Hazard. In a sense he's an actual G-rank monster like Risen Shagaru by virtue of doing 70% of your HP with most hits and having massive combos like old Stygian.

I agree with the fight feeling more scenic than an actual fight. Making a monster fast for the sake of being fast doesnt make an engaging fight. It is a tough fight, but it's tough for the same reason older Mh titles are hard, it's just clunkiness. Hitboxing just doesnt match up with visuals, the monsters moves faster than the camera, etc. Frontier, while it did have fast monsters, never made something the camera couldnt keep up with, and even then, monsters that would teleport extremely far distances would have very noticeable visual cues. One mechanic I noticed as well is that it seems to track only one player. 10/11 Primordials I hunted, once hitting phase 2, would only target me, to the point where if I carted, it would attack the direction of camp. It made the fight significantly less enjoyable for me, as I basically just couldnt play, I was only rolling.
IDK tho why people say Risen Shageru is faster or harder tho. It felt like Shageru, but it flies more.

I wouldn't say so, but I don't speak for every GS user.

I do "main" GS and the only monsters that really end up being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying is Risen Shagaru and Primordial Malzeno.
Every other monster is easily handled using your varying skills... and if you aren't some goon thinking that you can just TCS constantly instead of focusing on trying to just Crit Draw your way to victory; Power Sheathe is a must for me just because of the huge bonus to movement, damage, and i-frames.

Still hate those two monsters though.

Also ♥♥♥♥ Volvidon, I can't stand fighting him with GS

Don't worry, man. Most of us are struggling with this fight. That's what we get for not being that good in the game. After all those complaints that the game had no difficulty, Capcom got creative. Gotta learn the very fast patterns and have fun with it. Just as with every other monster.
