What to do when monster is eating
I know flash stops them, but. Is it just better to attack him since they're in one spot and not attacking? Not sure how much the food replenishes their health.

Food does NOT heal the monster, first off. The only way a monster is able to recover health is by sleeping while on critical health, which is the stage where it tries to limp away and your cats start yelling about how you can trap it now.

What eating DOES do is restore a hidden Stamina pool that monsters have, enabling them to use more of their big attacks. Take a Rathian for example, you know how she spits fireballs either one at a time or in groups of three? Well, when she's low on stamina after having fought you a little, she might do the animation but no fireball comes out. That's an attack fizzling due to lack of stamina. Low stamina also makes the monster stop and pant more often, like they're out of breath. In either case, it's an opening and should be pressured.

When a monster's low on stamina they're more likely to run off kill a small mob for food in some other area. While they're eating they will completely ignore your presence until they've either finished or you stun/stagger them out of the animation. Still an opening, go to town. But be aware that they'll have the energy to be more aggressive once they've chowed down.

:Pitter1: of coarse the monsters could also just get angry and ignore their low stamina status, even during their low stamina status

Ya, enrage is it's own thing. Overrides low stamina. Probably shouldn't, but I don't make the game.

Alright. Thanks. Going with other comments, I'll probably just flash em and hope they don't get enraged anytime soon after.
