get red buffs from monsters by hitting what they use to attack, eg; great Itzuchi's red buff you get from it's tail.
So I have to keep getting the 1-2-3 or to be more specific just the Red Buff which is 1 in order to keep my DPS in check?
And I have to keep jumping around since is where all the DPS are compare to being on the ground?
Everything else I recommend playing and testing it to see what clicks for you, and look for skills, WBM's and companions based on that. Do the switch skills first though.
Edit: For status IG specifically you'll want to run
Paralysis, Sleep - Greed build with Blast kinsect.
Poison - Decent build with Buildup boost and assist kinsect(stun effect)
Anything else depends on the weapon value and element value. Lots of those weapons have different builds towards them, unless you run meta specifically then it depends on your playstyle.
I'm not a glaive master, but I think you normally use the ground combos for DPS unless you're using the Wyvern Dive wirebug move. Experiment in the training room to get a feel for it. While you're at it, try out the different Kinsect types. I'm a big fan of Powder and Assist, but you may like something else.
Total air time depends on the monster since a lot of attacks have ♥♥♥♥ hitzones that can hit you even if you are far above the monster. Thats why I always recommend +1 evade extender. It's just to good to not have even as IG dude.
No need for stamina skills IF you always have max stamina per birds. Without maxed stamina it can get hard to get the full air combo done.
IG is one of the few weapons that need a lot of stamina for the most dps even if you land all the air stuff perfectly imho.
Otherwise tetraseal slash spam is good too. Awakenend kinsect slash is also good with certain kinsects. Especially with rainbow powder kinsect I keep forget the name of.
Not my favourite playstyle but unique af and sometimes really fun (only solo) in mp it's ♥♥♥♥ because of unpredictable monster movement.
It's an awesome weapon in rise with a lot of different playstyles. You should try them all to find your favourite.
Mine is kinsect slash spam with the occosional tetraseal ground combo spam. Followed by awakenend kinsect slash since it's so satisfying to land through rainbow powder.
I mainly use the blunt dual powder defense kinsect. Because I hate getting the buffs. Defense because it's easy to get red on every monster. But the others can be hard to get depending on the monster.
