I feel like both of these are better solutions than what Rise does.
And anyone who says to just hunt with friends
1 : I ain't got monster hunter friends
2 : I don't know if I'm playing for 20 minutes or 5 hours
At least the other hunters talk now, didnt see that a lot in world
Being able to select quests is, however, an issue.
in MHW if you just play for fun or want to help someone just look at quest board it will show who want your help but in MHR is not if you want to help via quest board you must browse and try each quest and wait..... so waste much time.
This is why I liked SOS system so much. I might play for hours, or then I might just play 1 or 2 quests.
in MHGU you create your 4player lobby and -most importantly- give it a name so everyone knows what you are up to.
are you grinding Deviants? np everyone who joins will do the same.
dont you know what to do? no problem -> just join or create a ''turns'' lobby where players are taking turns so you get a good mix of different hunts and ppl can help eachother / just enjoy the game.
Rises mp is as bad as worlds though. 4 player lobby is a good thing, but you cant give it a name so its irrelevant. and its unbelievably annoying that mp becomes an 8v1 instead of a 4v1, since every hunter can use his dog/cat in mp. making it even more chaotic than mp already is.
TLDR: RISE and WORLD both have way worse mp than MHGU
PLS let us name our lobby again.
Edit: SOS was so bad. you have to start the hunt before you call ppl in. the first one joins, runs ahead, dies and leaves before the rest even started.
again -> MHGU every player joins into the hub, everyone knows whats going on, you eat together, may talk about the strategy, wait until everyone is ready and then you go out together. you win/lose totgether and then you start again, or do the next hunt with the same people. that also ensures that everyone wants the quest to succeed. i could go on for hours why world and rise both are such a big step back in terms of multiplayer.
Your post really just sounds like a boomer rambling about the "good old days".
