I Feel Like Serene Pose Is Absolute Garbage
When I use it, 1 of 4 things happens (Note, this is when I use it PROPERLY, not when I use it without being attacked or otherwise out of position):

1. The monsters attack is too fast.
The monster's attack carries them outside the counter-attack range before it triggers, and it whiffs.
What's great is that I still lose a level on my sword. Why has this not been patched to only lose a level on hit?

2. It whiffs for no reason.
I had this happen FIVE TIME against a Tobi-Kadachi right before making this thread.
It did a claw-swipe or a shoulder-bash and, even though 90% of it's body was inside my attack radius, the attack 'missed'. Seriously; there were no damage numbers popping up.

3. I get nudged aside.
I activate it, and the monster CLEARLY hits me; I even take some damage. But instead of it triggering, my player model is pushed around while I sit there in the 'waiting for attack' pose.
Bonus points if the monster does a follow-up attack afterwards that rails me from behind or 0.000000000003 seconds after the counter-pose ends after they pushed me around to avoid it.

4. The monster's attacks hit more than once.
This is a great one, where I trigger it, get attacked, and then get PLOWED by a follow-up attack mid-counter & eat a large mess of damage.
This one is great because 90% of monster's attacks have 0 tells if it's a single hit or multiple hits. Anjanath biting once or twice is a good example; both have the same windup, so there is literally no way to tell if it's counter-safe or not.

----------------------------------------------

These all happen in every hunt, and makes Serene Pose feel like it's noob bait to use.
I've basically given up on it and just use Silkbind Sakura Slash for heavy damage & to keep my sword Red.
Why would I waste a sword level on a counter skill that barely works due to bad hitboxes?

I believe it's a situation skill, it works very well if you know how to chain your counter-attack. I use it a lot on monsters and have no problem at all like Rajang (Furious), Tigrex, Barioth, or Magala... for example, mostly it's a monster that tried to ram you with their head.

i use it as a wake-up attack.

1) have a palico / palamute equip a sleep weapon or get a sleeptoad
2) get to red bar
3) put 2 Mega barrel bomb at monster's head
4) place a small barrel bomb away from mega barrel bomb
5) perform serene pose counter using the small barrel bomb, make sure your Serene pose hit the monster's head. Free 1k+ dmg + 2 mega barrel bomb dmg

Alternatively, you can use it on the tail,if u want to sever it

2 and 3 happen all the time with CB's CPP, i feel like counter stances drastically reduce your hitbox or something

Same things with Switch Axe but because of the huge range it has it does not whiffs that much but it does happen and its annoying.

I have been playing longsword since day one and I can say I rarely use that skill unless I have to. Like many people said here it is a situational skill. That skill is not your bread and butter like Iai Spirit Slash or sacred sheath.

serene pose hit like a truck if you have harvest moon and aim for weak zone

You don't use it to attack. You use it to cancel another move. Ignore using it as a normal counter. Use it when you're attacking and you're leaving yourself open.

I never use Serene pose if I can help it, it's basically an extra-long foresight slash that eats two wirebugs for your trouble. Unacceptable, I use those wirebugs to engage, recover from aerial knockdowns, and maneuver. On top of needing them for either Sakura slash or Helm Splitter. There's very few situations where Serene protects you but Foresight won't, and half those times are gambles with how the monsters have a tendency to push you around instead of triggering it or just waiting to hit you with a strong attack the moment it wears off.

If there were any other option for Wirebug B on Longsword, I'd use it instead. Pose is a liability at it's best.
I think the problem is that you try to primarily use it to attack instead of as something to cover your ass with. I used to share your opinion of the move before I learned how it can be used more effectively.

In general the problem with all the counters in the game is that the monster can miss you/avoid the following attack. It can be a bit infuriating and annoying at times.

I believe the longsword in sunbreak is total garbage. Why is it stealing Greatsword's moves, don't the devs want each weapon to have an identity of its own? And why is harvest moon so incredibly bad, don't they want you to actually have fun while playing? Just give us the longsword from Iceborne back.

you have lost your mind, LS iceborn is garbage, sunbreak LS is lot of fun there are a lot of moveset choices idk why you think IB is better, totally insane

with WW3 and WM3 finally in the Qurious crafting pool you can use serene pose a lot more frequent, this help low skill players use the weapon more safely, FS > ISS then sereno pose zino's triple slam is satisfying AF

on the other hand frostcraft SSC is unga bunga.

This post reeks of someone who has barely touched sunbreak longsword.

And no, harvest moon is not bad. But it more solo focused, kinda like a lot of new switch skills are.
