I just watched an Aknosom fly north from the centre of the Ruins, only to end up in the southern fields. And a Khezu fly from outside the southern cave in Islands and end up in the northern cave at the opposite side of the map. They go where they want sometimes.
Kinda sounds like you're talking about MH4U. If you followed a monster's shadow when they flew away, they'd go one direction and end up somewhere completely different lol.
While it's cool that you can turn various parts of it on and off, I agree there isn't much you can disable without losing QoL. The only thing I turned off is the extra wirebug skill info (second scroll + skill names) added in Sunbreak. It's dead center and eats a good chunk of screen estate.
As a personal anecdote, I've tried getting my friend into Rise , he's never played Monster Hunter before and straight up said the HUD looks like a crappy Korean MMO, it was a huge turn off for him.
The skillswap/wirebung info one is really bad
which made ui updates
like adding vulnerbility of monsters to quest like monster weakness icon
maybe some of the stuff will find its way into the next iteration
like an option for the palamute to sniff for the monster if you play without minimap
or adding some compass at the top of the screen which highlights the direction to every monster
the beetles from mhw were also heavily criticized from many so it is hard for developers to please everyone
i dont get the thing about colors kicking you out of imersion while i assume you would disable everything if want the full hunter experience, no fancy meters anywhere
I wonder if the health status could be displayed though direct indicators on the avatar
for the people who want to play without hud
There were all these japanese games where your armor got slowly destroyed during the battle or deadspace did it through the healthbar at the back, maybe there are more creative ways to display the status or at least 3 stages full hp, half and critical, but veteran hunter would already know you can't take more than 2 hits against tough monsters anyway.
how do you handle stamina management without this fancy yellow bar, the avatar starts coughing if he is low or heavy sweating
i also still failed to figure out how to save different gunner ammo build and save them with my pouch loadout
Heh. There is also a skill for that.
