Not sure her DPS is amazing, but I've never checked much.
If you're using the gibberish language then she also commonly screams "Da Baby!" Which hurts or is funny.
Hinoa is a healbot, and anyone with a horn is a buff bot.
But yeah you're right, those 2 are a very good combination. Although you probably shouldn't take Minoto when playing Lance so you actually get your Offensive Guard and that silkbind counter to work.
Avoid the Admiral and Arlow combination though...
The game's difficulty isn't in surviving a monster, but not dying to unexpected accidental one/two-shots.
You have enough tools to survive easy monsters' basic attacks, but if you got too careless they might catch you off guard.
They do reduced damage, but full partbreak and KO damage, which is huge.
