Is every Set Bonus just +Res?
I have recently reached HR7 (I know, I am not very far into the game yet) and every single set bonus is just +Res. Is this just a consistent thing throughout the game or are there different bonuses later on?
引用自 CookedMeat:
There are no 'set bonuses' in MHR like MHW. So yes, having multiple pieces from the same monster only gives you a slight Elemental Resistance bonus and nothing else.

Skills are the most and only important thing when picking and mix matching armor pieces in MHR.

Hmm, that is a little disappointing to be honest. I guess it makes mixing sets more viable though so I can see the upside. Though to be honest I would rather just not have the set bonuses at all at that point. Oh well, thanks for the info.

In MHW, set bonuses often provide large enough benefits that they are often prioritized when making a builds for all the weapons. This has highly restricted build variety and in some cases, raised the demand for extremely rare decoration that are essentials for specific builds.
In MHR, you can't feel much about the build variety due to a lack of equipment choices and generally more restrictive choice of decorations (many 'good' skills now requires higher slots), plus the fact that Rise lacks armor with good skills to a point where slots are priotized when choosing pieces, so it is very reasonable to wish for set bonuses to return.

However once you reached Sunbreak, especially the end-game, you will start to see how massively the removal of set bonus has impacted on the build making environment. It is amazing how much different sets you could make by mix matching different equipment pieces each with very distinct skills. (Although, this inevitably lead to end-game power creep.)

Yea I can definitely see how the MH:R system is better for specifically pre-end game. It leads to a much more flexible progression where you really can just take whatever you want while leveling instead of getting "insert monster name here" set because its bonuses are just objectively the best.

Well, there are still THE best sets if you want to do x or y but it is 100% accurate that Rise offers the most flexibility when it comes to making interesting armor sets. It also has the biggest amount of interesting and unique armor skills you can make builds around. In Sunbreak at a certain point you start unlocking armors with unique skills after killing master rank monsters, and it just happens over and over again, monster after monster a new unique skill, and it stays like this until the very end of the game pretty much, it's feels great!

Rise is the first MH game where I didn't prefer to play an offensive set with some mixed utility, I actively made armor sets focused on unique skills that changed how I played the game. And sure, you could do that in other MH games but it always felt like playing a meme build, aka not very effective. In Rise I feel they did a much better job making those skills actually good and effective when used properly.

Set bonuses still exist somewhat, like Teostra set bonus. But those skills can be earned as jewels later in master rank, so it sorta loses its value as a set bonus compared to MHW.

I guess "skills that only exists on specific armor" can be one way to define set bonus... In that case then yeah, even base Rise has that sorta things.

Rise honest to God is the best MH hands down because youre no longer funneling gear to be good at the game. It offering so much flexibility, as well as a ton of risk/reward skills makes it so good.

It's a good thing to see MH is honoring speedrunner-style of gameplay by adding more high risk high return skills other than adrenaline (heroics).

It's a good thing until randoms start using them in multiplayer without a proper skill to handle them though...

They also added more skills that work with specific weapons, certain full sets being better for specific weapons, and lots of skills that combo. Theyre definately looking at Frontier for tips, a friend of mine says that the closest non-Frontier MH has ever gotten to a Zenith Monster is Scorned Magnamalo, saying it could be considered a Zenith, both by design, and how the fight is.

Well, the Teostra skills in particular are the same skills that were unique to the set Teo set bonus in MHW, they just made it possible to get those skills on jewels in the post game here. Even still though, it functions like a set bonus until pretty late in master rank, since the armor is the only way to get it until then.

No... Teo's set bonus in MHW was Masters' Touch...

Yeah you're right. Just checked. My bad. I think I was getting confused with gold rath set bonus, because I usually ran explosion weapons in MHW and wanted more bang than just boosting explosion gave.

Yeah, I used to run it for true crit status so I could get more explosions.
