Are town lobbies really just 4 players max?
is there no sort of large scale hub groups like in world? Also you lose your palico if you start multiplayer even with no one in your game? Am i missing something or is this just a big downgrade from world? Any info is appreciated, thanks.

It is amazing to see how this topic descended into absolute drivel.

A simple question going almost into crazy politics, people obviously asked this before and it is a sore spot.

For me and many i played with this is a huge down grade but it wasn't game breaking. Seeing how so many on here here want to fight about it instead of just giving an honest answer really makes me worried for end game lobbies in here.

Shame.

Yes. Lobbies are limited to four players at maximum. It is no downgrade.

You can take only one buddy and no follower with you when you go for multiplayer.

from a huge amount of players to 4 is a downgrade. Pretty sad about that, met loads of good people in world from just entering random lobbies.

why do you need a huge lobby when only 4 people can participate in a quest. The 16 lobby was useless with a bunch of people either afk or some asking for help and no one helping them. 4 is more than enough and it has been always like this.

Literally no one used 16 man lobbies outside of Kulve and Safi. Even then, in those instances, NO ONE TALKED. 16 man lobbies were killed off by SOS.

Speak for yourself, I met a fair few nice people in random lobbies, some of which I still play other games with to this date. I like the sense of community and just joining random peoples lobby quests and hanging out. The more people there are, the more chances of those interactions occurring.

Probably one of the main reasons I play this 95% solo and 5% with underleveled mates.

Who would have guess that the biggest problem of this game would be its community ?

I don't know if you are all crybaby or using this game as a strategical farming steam points but it really changed my mind about the MH community.

I played well over 1000 hours of world on ps4 and pc, i alwasy played in 16 player lobbies, sharing meal tickets and messing around between hunts. Loads of people used them all the time, you talk nonsense.

why u need 16 when only 4 can join a quest ?
MHW lobbies are full of afk every time i asked for help nobody even came or answer.
Killermajaro Jan 7, 2023 @ 6:50pm
nah i agree. i loved the world lobbies much more. it is a downgrade. and not only that the multiplayer quest joining system is also a heavy downgrade. The only positive 4 gives you is that if you have a group of 4 with friends then no randoms can join in on your hunts which wouldnt happen on world anyways since you can group as 4 in there anyways so it is a downgrade.

Literally stating how many hours you put into World is meaningless here. We have people that have poured thousands of hours into older gens and a couple hundred into the current gen.

You have 1k hours into World, great. Want a cookie? I have logged 3k into MHGU, 1k into Tri, maybe 700 into World across multiple platforms, and even more into R:SB across both the Switch and PC versions.

What does stating our hours accomplish? It's just a big circle jerk. Loads of people enjoy the older style of lobby, you talk nonsense.

Oh yeah. Monster Hunter World was the exception, not the rule. 4-player lobbies have been the way of Monster Hunter games since the very first, and only a couple games have bucked that trend.

The whole multiplayer framework was built around four players, since that's the most that can join quests. Honestly, I don't care if World had bigger lobbies, the whole "can't join a player until they've viewed a cutscene" thing was such a tremendous sin that it deserves no praise for what little it was able to do right.
16 Lobbies its way better because its make more live, i don't like force to join group in Rise, i like to join group in World but never join group in this game.

I mean MHW was Capcom's take to introduce people who never played a monster hunter game into monster hunter, so making 16 player lobbies makes sense to make the game more inviting I guess. But monster hunter was never about that. It's unfortunate that people are comparing it that way but I also understand that it might be their first game so idk. I also think Capcom catered to useless "needs" for people, which leads to confusing discussions about what every monster hunter game needs to be a successful game, like 16 player lobbies.

Also you get one palico/ palamute online, which is an upgrade from world's limitation of losing your palico if the party has over 2 members

Most people don't talk in lobbies though. So how is it more alive? That just makes it look more cluttered and unorganized.
