How do you avoid these 2 attacks?
How to avoid the following attacks:
1. Ambush by Crimson Glow Valstrax;
2. Double explosion by Flaming Espinas?

For 1, other than running away from the area, what else can you do, to not take damage?
As for 2: the first explosion is easy to avoid if you anticipate, but what about the one where it jumps into the air and spits a homing one?

P.S. I don't really mind getting owned by Valstrax, because it is supposed to be a special Elder Dragon, but Flaming Espinas deals the most damage in the game, which is nonsense. Even Risen Elders don't do that much damage. What were the devs thinking here? A level ~125 Flaming Espinas left me poisoned with 5% HP, so I bet, a 135+ one will 1-shot anything and anyone.

Sheathe, run away from the monster and press dodge to panic dive which grants massive iframes to avoid both attacks you mentioned. Alternatively you can just use wirebug movement to get out of the attacks' range.

Flaming Espinas' charged fireball is its main gimmick and as the subspecies of the Frontier flagship monster its signature attack is meant to oneshot you. In Frontier the explosion's radius is almost the entire Tower map, they decreased its range in Sunbreak.

I see, as I thought, I wasn't missing anything here. I play Lance, not sure if that matters, though.

I see, well, seems the devs like/want it this way. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah those two attacks are true unblockable attacks so Lance can't stand its ground against these. I just use Sheathing retreat and then either panic dive or use more wirebugs to simply avoid being in the attack radius.

If you're feeling fancy you can counter through the ambush, otherwise just do the dive

Ambush is unblockable.

For 2, first sheathe and wirebug away - fastest method.
Then IMMEDIATELY prepare to panic dive the second.

Yeah but not with a shield.

Ok, but Lochlann never said anything about a shield. I see that OP said he was playing Lance in a later post, but Lochlann was probably replying to the original post where the weapon wasn't specified

flashbug, trap under him, if you fast enough, use 3 quick sheath for comfort.
astranabeat Nov 30, 2022 @ 6:49pm
Dive is a tool the game gave you to dodge super move. If you use controler. Spam RB to sheath and hold to run away then press roll to dive. Don't recomment using L3 to run and dive. It's easy to mess up.

Or just Redirection everything. You will feel like a boss when successful.

Answer is, unless you need him for a spine or to check off a quest, you avoid the quest itself and in doing so both attacks are thwarted.
