Why do ppl hate Rise?
I only have to kill Fatalis, but then what? Rise? Sunbreak? Why is it so controversial? And don't say "it's too easy." I like easy. Easy is fun. If that's the only thing wrong with it, then say so.

Play it for yourself and decide. If you look at my profile I've put more hours than I'd care to admit into both (not including the 400+ I put into the Switch version before the PC one came out.)

One thing I'll say about the difficulty it IS "easier" than World in the sense that there are more viable playstyles and builds that WORK -- in my opinion, it is NOT any less challenging, just less difficult. If that makes sense.

As for the graphics, well, I play with DLDSR 2.25x on my 1440p 144hz monitor. Instead of using TAA or FXAA, the game is rendered at 4k and supersampled to 1440p, resulting in a MUCH smoother look. Combined with its unique art direction, the game still LOOKS good -- assuming you've got the hardware to run it.

FAR more important, however, is the framepacing and latency: I have a 144hz monitor but I lock the game at 120fps (since the animations I believe are based around multiples of 30. But I could be wrong -- either way the extra 24 frames aren't noticeable. What IS noticable is the single digit render latency and 4x the framerate (hence 4x the rendering power required) over Switch.

And that, alone, is reason to buy it on pc in my opinion. The combat in base rise was already satisfying, but Sunbreak really turns things up a notch. Monsters are quicker, hit harder, and the split second reaction time required to keep the pace simply would not be fun if the game prioritized next-gen visual fidelity over performance and combat fluidity. Remember, BOTH types of graphical rendering styles are equally demanding on your hardware.

So to address the graphics, yes, they are not technically as good as world, but the tradeoff is you get to enjoy a combat system that, to be frank, sort of ruins other games.

I suggest if you're hesitant, to wait for a sale (because the demos are NOT a good representation of the game). As for the community toxicity, well, it mostly just exists on steam. There are some fantastic Discord communities and I RARELY if ever encounter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when I'm actually playing.

IMO it's the best Monster Hunter game yet. As it should be -- Capcom has done a good job listening to fans, engaging the community, finding out what people want, and the results show: it is a polished, addictive, and satisfying game.

u will not usually see comments posted by people who like the game, only the only the ones that dislike it, that's why you get the illusion that people do not like the game when in fact its the opposite. The game is great its fun, just try the demo.

it's less actual hate, and more ambivalence 'cause the game has gone in a different direction to past titles and some people liked the past games more. I feel like Rise is generally well liked, but the shift to a more action-y style has lost some of the character from past games.

Most common complaints are that its too easy and the graphics are bad. Early on i did feel its much easier than MHW, it became much more arcadey. The virebug gives you so much mobility and escape potential its hard to get downed. But later on the monster become much faster and agressive so it balances out. The graphics are indeed worse than MHW, its a switch port, even the high res textures we got for PC are inferior to MHW. What they really ruined is the SOS system, the matchmaking in MHR is worse in every aspect than in World.

Monsters AI dumb, some moves of some monsters are not telegraphed, pretty much no interesting fights except very-very few.
Game is fine if you not planning to spend more than 50-100hrs in it. Endgame revolves around farming talismans to improve your build, but man, better to try lottery(and now, seems, they add random skills on armor so you will farm for rng more, hope i'm wrong). MP suck ass mostly if you not playing with friends, because search for hunts options are butchered, you either search by particular quest(or post it by yourself) and praying someone doing it(or someone will join you) or just push "give me random quest" button. And if you get used to world/ib feeling of "hunting" and "researching" new world, here you are more like anime protagonist. You just get in and get out, goes to another quest.

UPD*
I'm pretty sure you'll find "hate" for any other game not only Rise or MH series in general. But after World/IB for me Rise is a few steps back.

World has given people a high standard to expect and don't realize the game is designed for a portable device. There's also the price tag

For those of you who want to fix the stupid region lock for matchmaking. https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterrise/mods/1044

BTW, does this work with people who don't use the mod as well?

Game lacks oomph. All sizzle no steak. Being designed for Switch isn’t an excuse.

No big lobbies, no server browser.

Rise fixes some of World's biggest issues, and has one of the best rosters, both in quality, quantity and general roster size, especially with SB. Dual Blades (my only weapon) are a blast to play, and there's generally just so many fun monsters to fight.

I heard some people don't like the multiplayer, but imagine playing a MH in multiplayer. Couldn't be me.

Any game that has Basarios cannot have the best roster.

While Basarios is the worst monster in Rise by a pretty decent margin, it's not World Kushala nor Zorah, so it gets a pass.

its because a lot of those that hate it are first time mhw players and just are mad for no reason
Chomp Dude Jul 23, 2022 @ 6:19am
It's because they're looking at it as a sequel to World instead of enjoying it as it's own thing. Take into consideration also that both games were developed alongside each other.
