"There was a problem loading the save data"

In my 1000 hours of MHW Iceborne, I have never encountered this. But I encountered this problem in Rise multiple times now, forcing me to lose hours of progress. I'm slowly losing hope for this game.

Just happened to a friend again, he lost his data, uninstalled. erased everything reinstalled again and boom error again this morning

It's been a known issue since Vanilla Rise. However it seems to be getting worse with every patch/update. Latest patch seems to have affected an unusually larger amount of users than normal. I've lost 600 hrs just a few days ago. Never moded my game or downloaded a mod in my life. This bug just deletes files if you are the one of the unlucky chosen few. Lesson, always back up your file before every patch/update because you can expect the Failed to Load Save bug to happen.

Happened to me and a couple of friends of mine, one unfortunately losing all of his data. Make sure you never create a new save when you get the error.

I followed this steam guide shared with me a while back and the issues lessened, especially when I exit a lobby first then save my game while I'm offline before closing the game.

First time encountering this "glitch" and I refuse to start a new save after the hours I've put into this game. I don't even have the SunBreak DLC either. Hope this gets fixed soon....

i just moved over to a new laptop from a steam deck and was just starting the game and now i cant even play cause of this damn failed to load saved data and i cant even make new data i follow the steps and it still fails the game is unplayable now really hope they fix this cause this is my favorite MH of all time :(

sounds like save contain hacked items, if you are running a charm with AB7CE7 don't expect the save will load.

I don't even have hacked items, it's just me trying to launch the game normally.

I had this issue starting Day 2 of my playing. I'm guessing it's a problem with the auto save feature or when you exit and save the game. I've disabled the auto save and just manually save at the end of each mission with the pop-up and I use the save option before I exit game without saving. I'm suspecting the Auto Save because I've played games where this was the culprit. If a game is capable of a faulty auto save system it's also capable of failure on the save & exit option as well. I think the cloud save option is fine tho. Just some idea's for those who have this issue. I'm not a tech expert or anything just tossing out my two cents.
