Has your opinion changed about Spiribird gathering?
Now that most of us have gotten to end game Sunbreak, I was wondering if opinions have changed about gathering Spiribirds.
With the addition of skills and ailments that sap health, as well as monsters that hit harder, I personally have no problems with people taking a couple minutes to go max their health, attack, and stamina. I go and grab them myself since I run a suicide glaive build, so the health is super important

I tend to join a lot of games mid-mission, and I'm concerned that if I spend too much time grabbing spiritbirds I could get booted for garbage reasons by people who actually are garbage. I'm trying out Spiritbird's Call since it's on a talisman I got. I'd rather that we start with post-spiritbird stats and just remove the pickups altogether, but in the meantime, I think the Spritbird's Call seems fine. The rate at which you earn random spiritbirds seems to get interrupted during wyvern riding, but I think it's decent-enough that I can ignore going too far out of my way to gather birbs on the way to the target.

Idea: collected Spiribirds boost everyone's stats, not only the ones collecting them
It is still a rubbish mechanic. A lot of attacks are still balanced towards having buffed health, if you don't spend 10% of your hunt time gathering these buff you will easily get destroyed, especially if you're a range player.

The two new maps have some improved spiritbird and bushes placement which eases the 'preparation' procedure, however it still doesn't solve the issue entirely. The Dango Skill "Dango Bird Caller" is quite decent if boosted to Lv4, but then again, the dango boosting mechanic itself is another piece of rubbish. There are also far more prioritized dango skills like moxie etc

They could've have added some Lv1 decoration that eases the process of collecting spiritbird considering how abundance Lv1 slots there are but how useless most candidates can be.

Haven't tested the new skill Spiribird's Call so don't know how effective it can be, but if it's the same crap as Chameleos Soul then probably still won't make the situation better...

I like the sound these birds made tho lol
it's not required at all but the average player will complain about needing to collect them all instead of admitting that they're not actually that good at a video game

this is the most "I'm a real gamer" reply I've seen here yet.

why you all gotta be a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥?
I hate it, it makes me feel like i'm in a arcade game with power up pickups.
Infact, so does the endemic hunting helpers and the combat itself.
honestly the Spiribirds seem like a reaction to HP boost being all-but mandatory in World, as well as the fact that "exploration" get turned into "press the raider ride button, wait 'till you're at monster. repeat if monster leaves." every single hunt. forever. if everyone needs more HP, then just give everyone more hp after few minutes of token map navigation.
Awful mechanic. Half of the team starting the hunt while the others are going spiribird hunting. It completely breaks the pace of the hunt.
I don't mind them too much, but I do miss the speed and ease of tossing on my Mushroomancer equipment and item set, eating a meal, eating the mushrooms and being pretty much good to go for only 30 seconds of inconvenience. It can be annoying when having extra health would be beneficial but there is no way to hit the cap without jumping around the map grabbing the birds. I don't feel the need to max out my stats for anything in master rank at the moment, however back in base rise, being at max or close to it certainly made a difference on the apex monster hunts.

I think their implementation causes unnecessary friction online however, when some players get impatient because other hunters are grabbing birds on the way to the monster. I'd rather a player join and buff their stats if they think it will help and turn up with a few hunting helpers, as opposed to turning up with no health buff and getting blasted out in a few hits and carting.

People should stop thinking they are required, start treating them as a bonus and you all have a better time hunting.
They removed the skill which gave you +50 health and that was an incredible important skill in Monster Hunter World. They just removed this skill here in Monster Hunter Rise to justify this Spiribird mechanic. It is just annoying and nothing more.

As a LBG main the health Spiribird are required to me for certain enemies or im literally one shot because I can't get the extra healths from armor skills anymore. So yeah, they are required!

wish they had some kind of spawn randomization to them so there would be more exploring instead of taking the same optimal path every mission
Spiribirds would be less of an issue if all maps were like the Jungle and had amazing synergy with the placement. There you can go to multiple patches and get a great buff with relatively little time spent.

Everywhere else they're too spread out. At least citadel makes up for it with the massive amount of densely packed good hunting helpers. But all the vanilla maps suck for both hunter helpers and spiribird layout where it takes a good 5 minutes of wandering to max out on both.

To be fair Health Boost isn't without its balancing issue in MHW, but the problem it creates (No HB3=1shot) can be easily solved (equip HB3).

Meanwhile spiritbird is between a matter of if you want to spend a considerably portion of play time doing the same scripted routine for every end-game hunt just to prevent getting one-shot. It also greatly increases the survivability gap between melee and range. In MHW/IB range players don't have as much essential skills as in R/SB, so they can always have a fair amount of Evade Window or Evade Distance to survive well even without Health Boost. But playing range in R/SB requires fairly optimized build with few to no QoL skills, thus making spiritbird collection even more mandatory.

On the other hand, there's one thing I would praise about spiritbird mechanic: In World, HB3 is a benefit so good it has became mandatory, thus looses the point of making it an optional skill. Of course you could drop it for stuff like Attack Boost or Critical Eye but the trade just isn't worth it. Meanwhile in Rise, skipping the spiritibird will shorten your hunt considerably, granting players an opportunity to take a risk for better efficiency (Kinda like heroics/adrenaline). But, such design brings more disadvantage to general players with average ability just like me.
I love it. That sweet sound the birds make, the way they buff your character, the pathways they lead you through the map -- idk what the haters say, spiritbirds are my homies.
Don't like them? Don't collect them. This was my stance on them during base Rise and it is still my stance on them with Sunbreak. They are an optionnal difficulty slider you can use, and the game isn't balanced around them.

I only collect those that are directly on my way and never ran into problems.
