yeah, i'd be very wary. This is like what, the 2nd or 3rd post on here where someone lost their saves due to steam cloud/ steam deck shenanigans?

Steam cloud is known for causing issues. However, I don't remember it just overriding files.

If there's a file conflict between your local and cloud save, you should get a popup asking you which file to use. If you pick the wrong one, you're kinda screwed. Generally when closing games, steam needs a while to properly sync everything. If people just turn their decks off like a switch, I'm not surprised the steam cloud can't handle that.

I haven't lost my save file and I constantly switch between my gaming PC and my Deck. Just make sure you properly upload your save file every time you exit the game.

Just wandering if there's any way to manually back up local saves because Rise doesn't seem to have a BackUp folder like World does.

Find the Folder named "77088486" in your steam userdata folder and look for "1446780" copy it somewhere else.. theres your local backup.

Honestly its ridiculous people dont make local backups.. steam cloud is for syncing across platforms and not for a backup which alot of people seem to think.

Just regularly back up your userdata folder and documents folder.

By doing that, you should have >99% of your savegames on steam.

Just be careful with the steam deck and backup your saved file. I gotta start all over. Screw it kinda sucks but i can get back into it. might get carried maybe not. I’ll get those hours back. I hope none of you guys have to lose your saved file like i did. really hate the steam deck now

Basically:
If you are in a predicament where Steam asks you to load from Cloud or Local — because it didn't sync properly — almost ALWAYS load from Local, if you know the game is saved Locally on your device.
The only time you should reconsider is if you know the game does NOT have your Local save data, but you DO know that the files are within your Steam Cloud.
Examples of this might be you playing on a separate device or if you are playing on a new HDD/SSD and the save files don't exist on it.

Sucks to lose your save data though, especially in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Monster Hunter.

No need to worries, Popcorn. There was another such case mentioned on the forums before and the restoration of the save game went smoothly. It would need multiple steps to actually erase your progress like that.

his number wont be "77088486", unless I am mistaken that would be your ID number of your steam account so his would be under another random number but still easy enough to find.

and as you have said the folder for Rise is 1446780 so they just need to copy the save file or like in my case I just copy the entire folder to another location for back up purposes in case anything ever happens like OP

You are absolutely correct with their ID. It would be "28338306"

..\Steam\userdata\28338306\1446780

Already tried a couple solutions and nope. Starting all over again. Hmm no one in Low Rank even with join request on.
cruste Jul 31, 2022 @ 10:18am
classic user failure, you can only blame yourself, if you just click fast through all notification and as others already mentioned simply instant turn off the device without looking what it is doing maybe valve needs an extra shut down process, which deals with stupidity of the end consumer and delays the process until everything is finished correctly.

it is also amazing how capcom repeats mistakes, which were already solved in mhw.
They created a backup file for these issues and here we are again. different development team same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

it was the same complains as all these cypercafe users playing all the time on different machines without creating their own manual backup in mhw.

turn off the cloud and turn on the brain.
