Unless I'm remembering wrong
??? What the hell are you talking about? I'm simply pointing out that the game lacks a functional basic combat tutorial and this is making me quite mad after being forced to do so many tertiary things before being taught how to do combos, lock-on or do anything that I've actually installed this game for.
Also, your C point makes no sense, are you saying I lack basics? Of course I lack the friggin' basics, I just bought this dumb game, but guess what, the game refuses to teach me any basics, instead it's like "HERE'S HOW TO TAKE PICTURES WITH YOUR PET OWL, OH BTW, DON'T FORGET TO GIVE IT A NAME"
Nope! Nothing. It teaches you how to ride and capture one, but not how to actually fight the bloody thing.
Honestly, someone told me before that Dauntless was a crappy knock-off of this game, but so far, that game was leaps and bounds better in first impressions and it actually taught me how to fight. If I haven't bought this game with a key I would have already refunded it.
Go into training area and practice
The basic controls are taught by tutorial quests, meanwhile weapon controls and combos can be accessed through the hunter's note in-game.
In Monster Hunter, you need to figure out when to use which combo on a monster, all by yourself. It's the same in Dauntless, the game doesn't teach you everything about the monsters' moveset, it only teaches you the basic stuff like how to use your lantern or how to interrupt.
You're also asking a really weird question. Monster Hunter is a pattern PvE, there are only a limited possible moves from each monster. If the game told you everything about the monster before you even fight it, then what's the fun left? You don't play poker and ask 'why can't I see opponent's hand?' or play FPS and ask 'why aren't my enemies standing still so I can shoot them?'. It's just how the game is designed, mate.
Asking a really weird question? What's weird about "why doesn't the game teach me anything about combat"?
Not the moveset of the monsters, MY OWN FRIGGIN' MOVESET. Or indeed, anything about this big hunk of metal I'm wielding.
You're telling me that the single most important thing in the game isn't even explained or taught in any way? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do I wish I could refund this game now, that is outright retarded. They force you to take a picture of this annoying cringy as*hole, but they don't even mention how to use my weapon? How does this game have a playerbase?!
Practice WHAT? I've had a brief glance at some youtuber talking about my weapon of choice and they are doing all this crazy stuff, but I have no idea how to even begin doing that.
Do I really have to look through the options for all the buttons and then read a bunch of stuff? They really made a tutorial for all these dumb things like riding monsters and making them crash into stuff, but not for my own weapon or how to do basic combat stuff? What the hell was the design team smoking? (and can I plz have some to calm down after wasting my money on this game?)
Even if they don't teach you your weapon, playing around with the moves is the only way to go.
If you want a bit more in depth, check the hunters note.
If you want more "combos", go to the buddy plaza located across the bridge in town, go all the way to the back where there's a small boat to the right, and then go to the training room to test out your weapon(s)
Honestly, you either practice on your own, or find a YT guide of what you're using.
Fight the first few monsters, assuming your doing village quest the monsters are extremely weak. The point of village quest is to learn the monsters and how to fight them with your weapon
I have 3 tutorial quests available:
1 is 'back to basics' which taught me how to harvest and gather stuff, wirebugs and all that. Then it was like 'oh, here's 3 raptor things, go kill them Ace'. It didn't tell me ANYTHING about fighting, WHATSOEVER
2 Is monster riding, which I'm sure will be very useful IF ONLY I KNEW COMBAT BASICS
3 Is monster capturing, see point 2
It is apparently the only way to go, because the devs deemed it more important to teach me how to take pictures with a stupid owl than to explain the basics of combat.
'Using it as a tutorial' isn't a thing. A tutorial explains things to you. If I have to sit there and trial and error it that's not a tutorial.
