Will the Silkbind attacks reduce personal skill on the weapons long term?
Too many weapons, imo, have builds around certain silkbinds (like Rage slash), that playing the next MH game without might be a rude awakening for some.

At least the clutch claw was a common variable. Everyone had it, and the only differences was 1 vs 2 hits to weaken.

I stopped playing Charge Blade for this reason. I’m not going to rely on that counter move into UAED for my damage. And that spinny axe thing looks boring.

People get all upset when Rise is referenced as easy. But every weapon has crazy gap closers and counters now. Some even make the weapons own mechanics trivial, like that gauge filling morph move on switch axe.

Thoughts?

I don’t want to get too comfortable when MH6 comes out.

You do not need skill to play this game in particular. Get hit, wirebug either away or back at the monster and keep spamming your attacks. Heal if you are below 50% hp, rinse and repeat.
If there's mode available, RISE is super easy mode. Being a more casual game attract more people to buy it but I don't like the way it drift away from its root. So far far away now from the first two generations. The only reason I still play MH is my brother, the multiplayer co-op. If it's single player, I'll rather play something else.

And Hunter Arts > Silkbind like everyone else said here.

This seems like a non-issue. We didn't have problems going from Generations Ultimate to Iceborne despite styles and weapon arts being a major portion of that game too.

I stopped reading here. One you have to attack to fill the meter (you know, you play monster hunter) and the other you have to wait 10 seconds to press the skill button again. How can you compare them and say it's a non-issue?

Sunbreak might be a pass for me, unfortunately.

1- Don't like the changes they made to a few weapons I used to enjoy playing. That just equates to less replay value for the game.
2- Don't like the art style/graphics
3- Don't like collecting birds for temp buffs, and petallace mechanics.
4- Don't like the talisman grind (mods, but whatever).
5- Don't like the monster riding mechanics.
6- Don't like that multiplayer options are worse than in World. The netcoding is also not that great, generally get more latency/lag/packet loss in this game than I did in world.

Probably gonna wait on MH6. But if Sunbreak wants to address at least 3 of those dislikes and turn them into likes, or non-issues, then I might consider it. But I'm not expecting it.

More importantly, nothing I've seen in Sunbreak from the stuff that's been shared has made me go "wow, that's awesome!". I was rearing at the bits to play Iceborne, literally took 3 days off work because I was excited to play it. Sunbreak? No such enthusiasm.

I find it more jarring when they change the base version of a weapon, for instance I barely recognize the switch axe from GenU though I'm sure it's a fun weapon now. I actually don't mind silkbind attacks at all. I LOVE building sets and I actually wish there was MORE variety in silkbind attacks. If they didn't nerf Crit Draw it'd make power sheathe a more fundamental skill to some kind of quick draw set, instead of being more of a repositioning skill.

What weapons did you play in world?

This game was developed by the "mobile team". This will NOT be a sequel for MH:5/Worldborne. But, it will introduce new features that are EXTREME and may be added into MH:6, whenever it finally releases. Expect an announcement either Q4, 2022 or Q2, 2023.

This was a terrible feature. It "should" have been a +15% "bonus" and not a +45% "requirement", for hunts.

The difference between a "good" hunter and a "bad" one was the ability to adapt to the "new rules."

I think you mean "SAED", and that's no big deal. CB was nerfed pretty hard in Rise, and the pizza cutter/ "spinny axe thing" is really not as good as it is cracked up to be. Most other weapons (gunlance excluded), are better than CB in Rise.

This is, pretty much, to be expected. The "mobile team" has always been a little crazy. This is probably why Lucient Nargacuga is coming back. Expect "insanity" from the upcoming release cycles. These guys will utilize EVERY resource at their disposal to produce both the "most content packed" experience possible, and the "craziest possible" content possible.

I don’t want to get too comfortable when MH6 comes out.
Expect that MH:6 will be a LOT less "insanity." However... expect that some of the new moves/features will bleed over. Anything with "good" ideas, or "extremely fun" will probably leech it's way into the next "main title release."

This means, expect the fun stuff to stick around... in some way, shape, or form... but, the "crazy" stuff to either fade into the background... or blend into the base-game mechanics.

don't like silkbind skills ? don't use it then ? how many complain threads are you going to make ?

What weapons did you play in world?

I had at least 200+ usages in 10 weapons. In Rise, all I play is bowguns, and bow in a few match ups.

I even went back and revisited some of these other weapons in Rise after making end game weapons and armor sets for them, and still found them to not be fun to play.

I don't enjoy using bowguns that much either, but it became a matter of simply using what gets you results, approaching the game as it if was a chore, or another box to put a check mark in.

Most of these weapons are actually easier to use compared to world with all the additional silkbinks and movement replacers they gave you that allowed you to do stuff you couldn't in world, like water strike with hammer as a counter move, etc. They're just not fun to play, I get no dopamine from using them.

In World I played 2000+ hrs for the thrill of the hunt, in Rise it was about clearing stuff and putting check marks in boxes.

Yea I hear ya. I’ll still get SB but will most likely play a fresh game in World as soon as I get bored.

It's called Ultra burst. World was the outlier in calling it differently.

Sure and QS3 is noob mode enabled .... Get a life dude !

I think the only downsides people will have moving from title to title is losing some of the new moves weapons get between games. If you can still remember the fundamentals of your chosen beatstick, you'll do fine. The quality of life items like mass gathering of items or running and healing might be a bit hard to adjust to. The core is the same between games, so you should be fine.
