I KNOW how sharpness works, the skill itself just utterly fails to even allude to what it does in the slightest. Honestly your TL;DR is completely wrong, that's just going off somebody not for some reason knowing what sharpness is.....

This boosts those modifiers. Raw and elemental are both affected by sharpness modifiers.

basically you get a damage buff when you sharpen your weapon, based on how many levels of sharpness you lost

Let your weapon get dull AF. Sharpen it, then you get a buff depending on how many colours of sharpness you gain back.

Would the boost from this benefit shelling on Gunlance? Since Gunlance shreds through sharpness, I can see it being useful and easy to keep up if it provides a benefit.
