Great sword surge slash combo
What do the great sword mains think of this new combo style. i cant get the hang of it or see the use in it it feels too clunky to get to the burst that you usually get with the normal style. essentially what i wana know is in what situation would you use this style in

I'm thinking it might be good for a status build since, correct me if I'm wrong, status relies on multiple hits in quick succession to be effective. I haven't had a chance to use it in the training room nor have I really made a status build yet though.
Only when the monster is downed. Or one of the rare moment where mons are not aggroing me. If you can get all them hits for free, the hunt can end damn fast.

Long-time GS main, I'm still getting used to it. It's powerful but unwieldy. In my eyes, it basically just lets you get an uncharged combo off very quickly (and stylishly), at the cost of locking out charges until your combo is finished... and running down your sharpness, which GS usually doesn't have an issue with.

I've found it easier to use against some monsters and harder against others, so I just put them on separate swaps. I agree with what the person above me said: really amazing on downed monsters. Reminds me of SA's old Trance Slash combo, fully buffed, from GU. Getting the full combo off is very satisfying... and man, if you're able to keep going into a successful TCS? :lunar2019shockedpig:

I absolutely love it. It emphasizes mobility over power, which I think is a sensible trade-off.

Plus, the new attacks are flashy and stylish as hell.

I think it's great, i can get more consistent hits in, especially against the fast monsters, the combo they show you (Y + B + YB) is meh, but doing Y+Y+Y does great overhead slashes and you can go into a really fast charge attack that you can then chain into another main charge attack (either True charged slash or the more defensive one)

I'll say the best one is Y + B + Y

YB finisher for me. Hits twice, and reminds me of the Giant Hunt ash from Elden Ring.

I keep Rage Slash and Charge combo when normally fighting and switch to True Charge and new combo when the monster is down or otherwise not moving. The new combo does good damage, but it isn't quite what I need when the monster is able to fight back. I need my shoulder bash.
