What's the purpose of HH melody mode: echo ?
Hello,

Is there any advantage of Melody Mode: Echo compared to performance ?

Doesn't it just make it slower and forces you to play without hitting the Monster ?

Is it for really good players who know how to optimize ?

It's just two different styles. One is more about combos and the other is just playing what's on the staff. One isn't better than the other, one is just more 'old school' than the other. Both get you to the same place in the end, sans a min-max which is kind of ridiculous here anyway.

Usually for using songs more rapidly, like heals or sonic wave / barrier

IIRC echo has no i-frames

The echo mode was made by an intern who was told to make a mode where you play the notes first and then do a performance to apply them. This was to give veteran hunting horn users a mode that is similar to how it worked on older titles. However it failed miserably as they didn't make the melodies 3 notes long like the older games. And because the buffs are identical to performance mode there is no actual incentive to ever use it.

Basically the echo mode is completely useless. It's always better to just use the performance mode.

there's 2 more things about it, the way it plays all notes in a Slidebeat and the reach it gives for heads that performance can't reach.

One thing that I'm more disappointed in Echo mode is that, storing notes has no effect on the performance recital, that could've been the depth that made it interesting to experiment with different notes.
