MONSTER HUNTER RISE

MONSTER HUNTER RISE

couch coop, 2 instances 1 system
title, need advice on how to achieve. I want to play with my little brother, we played emulated 4u and it was very easy to do. want to do the same with rise and if possible with world, 2 instances of 1080p on a single 4k screen. sys specs i5-12th 6700xt 32gb 3200 ram, can do reasonable 4k max, 1440p max over 100fps, schould be able to easily run 2 instances of 1080p 60 with some fiddling. Need advice from those who tried or did something similar. I can imagine running virtual windows with another steam account but I'm not sure which where virtual machine system and if there might be other ways.

Virtual machines would probably just be a disapointment. If you have two gpus then maybe you can get decent frames by dedicating one to the vm but even then it can be finicky to get working properly. With only one gpu it is pretty much impossible.

I suggest taking a look at https://www.splitscreen.me/ as it does not rely on virtualization and thus has a better chance of working with a single gpu.

No MHR to be found within the Handlers Hub. :MHRISE_Felyne:

will check it out, thank you.

just got told of something like this
Family Sharing.
Steam Account 1 in offline mode
Steam Account 2 in online mode.
seems promising too. gonna try today.

Family share only allows one game from an account to be run at a time.

You'd also need to be online as there's no local matchmaking unlike the switch version's local play via wifi between two switches.

Now that I think about it MHR has denuvo. Denuvo might prevent you from doing any of this. At this point the cheapest and easiest solution would be to buy a used computer for your brother to play with.

The idea of using a virtual machine did not sound too bad if your PC can handle it. However, I doubt it works without having two accounts.

we have enough pc's and buying the game again is not an issue either its just playing side by side with your brother on one screen is just pure fun, and is what we really want

hoping family share will cover that, buying again not really an issue either.

In that case I have the perfect solution for you. Download the steamlink app and run it in windowed mode to connect to another pc in another room and use virtualhere usb to stream controls to that pc. 99% guarantee to work.

I have been using steamlink(The physical device as well as the app for a raspberry pi, an ubuntu pc, a windows pc and an android phone) for years and as long as you are not using wifi and sometimes even with wifi there is almost no lag at all. And by almost no lag I mean 4-20ms so don't try to do competitive counterstrike with it but if you are playing with your bro couch coop style you probably won't even notice it.

just did sandboxie plus and it works "perfectly"(need to buy the game for online, which is something I can't test right, though preliminary tests tell me it works?:)) less than 50%gpu usage too. Will try out your thing too, just will need to install on another pc

I don't know about Rise, but apparently splitscreen is possible with World with this tool:
https://www.reddit.com/r/nucleuscoop/comments/p714xk/monster_hunter_world_local_coop_now_possible_with/
I didn't test it myself
