If you take up a small route to collect birds you are on a safe side. Though for many monsters it is not necessarily needed.
What armour skills are you using currently since that can play a big role in your problem.
Divine Ire Mask
Malzeno Mail
Kushala Grip X
Malzeno Coil
Kushala Crus X
Fortitute Petalace III
and Legacy Talisman (Since didn't have any good yet)
I'm focus in maxing regen HP and Defend to lv 7
Either spend some time gathering HP birds or learn to dodge all attacks, there isn't any really good alternative. Defensive skills like DEF Boost might help a little but I doubt a bow build could fit so many skills without losing major DPS skills. Similarly for Dango Defender and Divine Blessing, they could help but inconsistent. My personal choice is still moxie, so I can at least get hit 1 time in a hunt and sometimes get free damage boost from adrenaline.
Dango Spiritbird caller Lv4 is also good if you decided to take the 'gather HP bird' path as the skill gives double boost per bird. Also try getting Underworld/Absolute Petalace as they give more HP per bird and have a higher cap.
This tool might be of use for you to share that sort of information easily ~

Other than that only HP is going to be able to save you from oneshots, defense doesn't matter, especially for ranged weapons. You're better off getting evasion skills that boost your survivability greatly on Bow.
Armour can mitigate this to an extent, but the game really does emphasise not taking direct hits in higher levels.
i learnt something new today i only know range takes more damage,i didnt know melee takes more elemental dmg
but the penalty is invisible?or there is visible number we can see?cuz in older game there is visible number and range and melle armor are separate armor as in MH dos range always has lesser defense stat
Unfortunately I'm pretty sure the buff amounts are invisible to us and would require going through the game's code. Probably just like Divine Blessing except consistent on every hit.
