Reinstalled and lost my save?
I uninstalled MHR and then later on re-installed it and my save seems to be gone. It forced me to start completely from scratch.

Is this normal?

Hey, no this is not normal because normally it saves in the cloud. You could try those tips mentioned in the guide:

Good luck recovering it!

it's not if you synced to steam cloud, have you checked your setting whether you have turned off the sync?

I didn't have cloud saves enabled, so at best I just assume that uninstalling the game includes deleting save games.

yeah that's the case then, remmeber to enable it otherwise every game in your steam will get their save files deleted, steam cloud will store every save file and keeping it safe,be sure to enable to prevent lost files

Just as a reminder, Steam cloud is not 100% reliable and might even mess up your saves on very rare occasions, so be sure to manually back up your save file once in a while to minimize loss.

i had one time just last one or two weeks or so,where it happened to me was the steam cloud unable to sync properly then it asked me to pick the local or steam file, this is where u need to pick local save file instead of steam file cuz steam file is older file due to disconnction of steam cloud sync,i picked steam save file instead of local save file all my 8 hours progress just poof altogether

To add on to this, steam cloud is NOT meant to be a save storage and back up, its for syncing saves across devices. Always manually back up your save folders.

Check this path if there are any files in it:
<STEAM install directory>\userdata\<Steam Account ID>\1446780\remote\win64_save\
MHR save file is tied to Steam Account ID and it's encrypted.
If you see the files but are unable to load it in game, it's quite possibly that the problem is account (or account switching) related.

I have tested that. That assumption is incorrect.

Look for something like this as Phil wrote ~ there you find your local save games and you can check if you can restore them.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\10116866\1446780\

If you are unsure share a screenshot of the .bin files. That is, unless you have overwritten them already with making new characters.
