Is palamute even good?

palamute feels so lackluster especially it's kits,meanwhile palico always been that useful even in world,and in rise palico is nuts with all the skills,other than for traverse,the dps seems meh as well,my palico still do that much with stupid op kits

ill go with dogs any day, not only they trigger status faster they also bind the monster in place, simply amazing

Idk I don't really care, I just use my palico because it sometimes gives free heals and a palamute because zooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom can go around the map at mach speed

Utility wise absolute. Its hard to chose either for MP realy. My cat is a supperb healer and safes me more often, yet my FOX gives me the speed and evasion i need to keep fighting without retreating into other area's of the map. Plus it deals at least some damage and some of its grapples are quiet good.

They're powerful to the point where speedruns are using double gun dogs because the damage they output, even in perfectly scripted runs, is almost irreplaceable. In casual hunts they can easily do more than 30% of your damage.

Palamutes make it easier to travel and spot resources on a map. And those equipped with silkbinder deal big enough damage that 2 of them with buffs can take down afflicted monsters.

Palamutes allow me to stay mobile when I sharpen my weapons mid-fight.
Just for that, they are worth it for me.

You shouldn't be sharpening mid fight unless there is an opening. Palamutes are good, but not for that.

This. Also, being able to heal/regain stamina/reach wirebugs or healflies, or even just running around while 'Malo is throwing a tantrum has saved me more times than I care to count.

Plus, you can do the ole yoshi jump off 'mutes. Always useful.

That's how things used to be, but Palamutes are a universal opening. They're good for all sorts of stuff, INCLUDING safely bringing my sharpness from green to purple in the middle of a fight.

Clearly you've never used a Valstrax weapon, or any weapon that has extremely short sharpness before it starts bouncing most attacks after it's initial Purple/White sharpness breaks

yeah currently i only have scrolls for it,so trying to make work but to no avail,i will be using palicos for now
